The top 4 trust qualities differ slightly! High competency is crucial for site-level safety leaders overseeing transient workers. Consistency in handling challenges also builds trust. 💡As leaders, we all agree that safety should be a top priority. We expect our teams to take safety seriously every day—but here's the truth: expectation alone is not enough. We also have to 🔦inspect to confirm that safety protocols are being followed. It's when we face ‼️ pushback on the inspection process that we should take a closer look. Resistance to oversight can be an indicator that something's off. A strong safety culture requires transparency, accountability, and a proactive approach from everyone—especially from our supervisors and managers. My perspective on Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) Visible felt leadership has become a powerful and proactive tool for driving operational safety excellence. But what is it? Walking the talk? Yes but more than that. Its leadership that also interacts, connects, inspires and stimulates its workforce, energizing them to work towards a common vision and sense of purpose.  When implemented properly, workers hearts and minds are won, buy in is generated and morale is boosted. So why then does everyone talk about VFL yet the fruits are not apparent? My perspective is perhaps the implementation is flawed. This calls for a thorough review of the VFL program in our settings to ensure that what we may be terming a VFL is not actually an inspection or audit.
