For many of our Secondary School students, learning to lead starts with being chosen as a Year 9 Middle Leader. The focus on leadership in this year level is servant leadership and the boys take the responsibility seriously. Our year nines have the opportunity to be middle leaders during their journey through secondary school and they're almost halfway through their journey in secondary school and they are really reaching for opportunities to grow both individually and as a group, and the middle leader opportunity is a perfect one for them. They serve as servant leaders for a semester and they have the opportunity to work on things that give back to their college community and act as role models. Servant leadership is really important because it helps them to look outside themselves and see how they can value add in their community, both here at BC and then also in the wider community. To see my son get this opportunity to be a leader, I'm incredibly proud. I think it's a fantastic that BC offers students of this age the opportunity to have this position. To stand up in front of their peers and take this chance is a great privilege and responsibility that starts on a great leadership journey. Looking forward to making a difference in the school, having a lot more opportunities than just building on our leadership skills. Like yeah, being able to lead from behind and help those that are kind of struggling a bit. Hopefully being someone that others can look up to or they can come to if needed. We've got initiatives such as the containers for Change like 10 Cent bottles. We've also got the Meals on Wheels. We're raising money for these charities to help those in need. Things such as shoeshine, boat repair and do initiatives throughout the middle school as well.

💡Session 5: Children's Leadership Skills The topic was very interesting and informative as teachers and parents can hand-in-hand play a vital role in shaping the leader within every child.
