We at Latino Education Advancement Fund know that there are social and economic disparities affecting first generation Latino community. Some examples are: (a) limited understanding of how to deal with immigration status/DACA issues, (b) linguistic and educational barriers for adult-aged Latinos, (c) isolation within school culture of ESOL populations, (d) community racial conflicts, and (e) less familiarity with the school choice process. We believe in DIVERSITY, EDUCATIONAL EQUITY AND INCLUSION, therefore, we invite you to help us spread the word about our 8a. Cumbre Educativa for parents and students. A two-day virtual conference for Latino parents completely in Spanish and for students in English. Please share the dates with teachers, parents, school administrators, the conference is free and everyone can join from anywhere. #ifyoushareyoucare #cubreeducativa #latinoparens #latinostudents #diversityequityinclusion

We’ve consistently received one request from students, parents, and school principals: to add a course for 9th graders, the last year of middle school in Madagascar. 💡 And finally, this year, we’ve done it! In our latest blog post, we share a behind-the-scenes look at how we develop our sexuality education and life skills curricula for young adolescents — and why we write our own curricula in the first place. ⚙️ Language choices. Gender nuances. Context. Cost. We consider so many factors. And not only do we draw upon years of experience and months of iteration, but we also pre-test our scripted lesson plans with students — a critical step. Learn all about it: 🟡 In English: https://lnkd.in/gaXwbMF5 🟠 En français: https://lnkd.in/gbGi76VP *** We are grateful for Mundo Cooperante's Right to be a Girl Fund for supporting the development of this curriculum!
