As a preservice History teacher it is within me to ensure that I do not perpetuate coloniality in the school and classrooms in particular. Hence the movement of Decolonising the Curriculum continues unapologetically. #HistoricalConsciouness #DecolonisationofHistoryCurriculum

I keep trying to tell y'all, it's a whole bunch of stuff right in front of your face that you won't know until you know. #iykyk Especially stuff that involves who you are and where you are. Like how a lot these counties, cities, and states still have Afrakan and Indigenous names. It's important because it is the first proof that everything that was supposed to have happened in the Americas didn't happen like hisSTORY says and it didn't happen as long ago as they claim either. Because if you think about it objectively, when considering that colonizers are going to colonize. After all this time that they claim to be in control of these lands and the obvious attempts to genocide the indigenous peoples and erase their history; the same thing with their slaves and their slaves knowledge of self; WHY DIDN'T THEY CHANGE THE NAMES?? They did in a lot of places. Their history proves that they love taking people stuff and putting their name on it. They didn't change the names because they couldn't because they didn't have the power to. By the time they got the power to do whatever wasn't until the 1900s. I.E. Oklahoma didn't become a state until November 1907. Hawaii didn't become a state until 1959. Even in their first colonies, now states, the indigenous names of counties and cities have survived. We know for sure that the natives had land/ reservations in these territories, some until this day. Which goes against the narrative that they were forced west or wiped out. Add to that we already know that Columbus didn't discover anything; he intentionally misnamed the people he encountered Indians and the continents became known as the Americas; and he and others where aware of a "New World" that was the land of milk and honey so they also knew what the name of the land mass was at that time. The fact that they keep telling our kids the Columbus lie should suggest that there's something bigger to it and it's an inconvenient truth. Inconvenient in that if you were ever to learn who those people are and what the name of these lands are it would cause a paradigm shift. A shift in power, in that all of the people who are being denied basic needs and rights might all of a sudden become rulers of the land. Because it is written eventually the first shall be last and the last shall be first. Again, something that has been in your face, "The most dangerous person to the system is an educated n*gga." They are scared of you learning something specific and historically have been willing to lie, cheat, steal, and kill to keep you from learning it. Working overtime to keep the masses dumbed down, causing confusion so you won't know what the truth looks like. So you wouldn't know it if it was sitting right in front of your face.
