Tech hoarder confession time! Behold, my old faithful work projector. This little gadget once helped us land a $1M contract for the Sydney Olympics Call Centre, and it even doubled as the main event at my daughter’s sleepover for a Lord of the Rings marathon. Now, it’s just gathering dust with its collection of cords and cables, but somehow, I can’t bear to let it go. It’s not about the tech anymore, it’s the memories! Though, maybe it’s time I face the facts… I might just be a bit of a tech hoarder. Anyone else out there clinging onto ancient tech with a story? Or am I alone in my storage struggles?

In the #education sector, heck, in ANY sector, in an ideal world money would be no object and you'd be able to buy all-new hardware, whenever you needed it. 💸 But even if we lived in this fictional universe, focusing entirely on new systems could be a serious strategic mistake. Here's why you should consider making refurbished hardware part of your plans for the future. Interested? ‼️ 100 000 000 “times more” is what I would call “quite an improvement”. ‼️ Yield has a limit at 100% Efficiency as outcome/effort has (almost) no limit. Good Saturday Morning with the Nanoworld (actually pico…) that powers our productivity and our games, our world. ➡️ Over the last ~ 8 decades we have scaled the ability to do logic operations (“compute”, “process”, “think”) by about 8 orders of magnitude ➡️ Lift a small apple (100 g) 1 meter on earth and you get a Joule. Today operations in our computers takes us 1 Pico Joule = 1 Joule / 1 000 000 000 000. That is like lifting 100 E.coli bacteria 1 meter. ➡️ That 1 pico Joule is what we need today for a logic operation. ➡️ 80 years ago we needed 100 000 000 times more energy. That means today we do 100 000 000 million operations with the energy needed for ONE back then. ➡️ 100 000 000 times more is what I would call “quite an improvement”. Note: Are further improvements possible ? Of course, see e.g. https://lnkd.in/dmbPYtGH by Tom T. #ww520 #ww251 #technology #markets #innovation #future #strategy
