I've said it before, and I'll say it again: *always* cite your sources. Scouring the web for stats on networking, I keep finding the same Forbes research mentioned (I'm working on some infographics around business networking for my good friends at No Ties.) That's *mentioned* not cited. What's the difference? I'm glad you asked! If I say "Forbes Insights found that 39% of people find face to face meetings lead to lead to higher quality decision making" I'm mentioning the research (OK, yes, I'm also grinding my teeth about the statisticisation of an inherently unmeasurable and subjective value, but let's keep on topic, yes?) If instead I say "76% of respondents of a Forbes survey valued having more flexibility in location and timing for online meetings [Forbes Insights, https://lnkd.in/eWmS82nw]" I'm citing it (and now LinkedIn will penalise me for including an external link, but dammit it's necessary to the point I'm making). By citing my sources you can all see where my facts are from, verify them yourselves, and – crucially – see them in their original context. Sure, a vanishingly tiny number of you actually will do, but if you're in that vanishingly tiny number you'll at least have the opportunity to wonder (as I did) what relevance results from a *2009 survey* have to the umpteen "stats you need to know in 2024" type articles that were appearing at the top of my search this morning, mentioning those exact figures. Data gathered 15 years ago... Remember online networking in 2009? Yeah. Oh and if anyone has any good sources for relevant and recent research on networking? hit me up in the comments I'd be really grateful!

The Power of Networking. Networking works heavily in business and can also be a strategy for growth. It works like magic. Visibility that comes from what you learn, the knowledge, the courses you bought can't be compared to “Networking”. Networking is essential to personal branding. It helps you overcome common challenges like, self doubt, fear of uncertainty, intimidation and shyness in your dream work. Just like in my previous post(yesterday), I made mention of avoiding limitations by going extra miles and becoming the master of the game. It also implies to this because, there are people in the same field that stand out better than you. As you plan ahead of the future, cultivate the habit of attending conferences, meetings, sit under these professionals and learn from them. You might discover that the reason behind your set back is the wrong audience sharing the same space with you. The innovative ideas needed might not be in those books you bought, you can get them when you pay attention to someone better than you! Hope this is helpful😊 Favour Ihekwereme #ContentChallenge #BecomingAnExcellentWriter #RCI #WriteBetterWithFavourEzekiel

The Power of Focused Networking in a Digital Age In a world where digital connections are a click away, it's easy to fall into the "networking trap"—collecting contacts without a meaningful connection. But true networking isn’t about quantity; it’s about building relationships that bring mutual growth and value. Here are a few strategies that can transform networking into real professional growth: Be Intentional: Connect with purpose. Identify professionals aligned with your interests or goals, and learn about their work before reaching out. Show genuine curiosity, not just a request. Engage Meaningfully: Join discussions, ask insightful questions, or provide a perspective in comments. Real engagement leaves a lasting impression, far beyond a simple “like” or “connect” request. Offer Value First: Share a relevant article, offer your expertise, or suggest a resource. The most effective connections come when we give before we ask. Nurture Relationships Consistently: Relationships take time. A simple follow-up or check-in every few months can strengthen your connections and make you memorable. With these steps, networking becomes more than an exchange of business cards; it becomes a pathway to shared growth and new opportunities. What’s a networking strategy that has worked well for you? comment it #ProfessionalNetworking #CareerGrowth #DigitalNetworking #RelationshipBuilding #LinkedInTips
