I was consistent on LinkedIn for 30 days and here’s what happened… I had been on and off on LinkedIn for months and wasn’t really getting any results from it. And on 30 September 2024, I had finally had enough and decided to one thing. I am going to post and engage on LinkedIn consistently for one month with no fail. I had made this goal in the past and failed but this time I was determined to do it. I rewatched some videos from Lara Acosta and Dakota Robertson and made a plan My Plan: → Post 5-7 times a week → Write 5-20 comments daily → Start conversations with people The Results: → 5000+ impressions, 1000 people reached, 234 Engagements (I know it might seem small to some but it’s a lot to me) → Inspired and resonated with at least 2 people (shoutout Hari Priya Chalasani and Jesuferanmi Amao) → Made and nurtured amazing connections with people like Mary Fung, Josephine Dassah, Alex Colhoun, Aryan Aryal (I never miss their posts) → Learned to celebrate others' successes → Gained insights for my next month on LinkedIn → Had a few successful posts (Including my most successful post ever) Key Lessons Learned: → Speak to your target audience, don't be afraid to niche down (thanks, Kylee Renouf!) → Some posts will do well, some will flop, put yourself out there and don’t let it discourage you, that’s useful data you’re going to use to refine your strategy. → Experiment with different posts, times, and approaches to see what works → Focus on your journey, not comparisons → Keep learning and applying new strategies, tracking outcomes → Give more than you take But one of the most important lesson I’ve learned from this month on LinkedIn is that I’ve taught myself that I can commit to something, I can achieve the things I want to achieve, I just have to start even if that’s starting small. I'm excited for month two, where I'll refine my approach, implement new strategies, and build on what’s working! If you’re getting started on linkedin and your only goal here is to get viral, think again. Last week, one of my posts accidentally went viral. Thousands of impressions poured in, and the numbers kept climbing all weekend (which, trust me, I’m grateful for). But can you guess the number of leads that I got through that post? Z.E.R.O. I got zero leads through one of my best performing post (50,000+ impressions within 24 hours). It was disappointing but also a subtle reminder: ↳ Just because your post is reaching thousands of people doesn’t mean it’s necessarily going to move any needle for your business. Unless your content is helping you: → Initiate meaningful conversations or → Connect with the right people (people actually interested in what you offer) Those impressions are not going to shift the dial. As at the end of the day: It’s not about how many people see your post, it’s about *who* sees it (cliche but it is what it is).

The 'secret' behind my LinkedIn growth. It all started 3 months ago when I decided to join Lara Acosta's LinkedIn cohort. I want to learn from the best and Lara is the best in all things personal branding. In one of the live Q&A, I asked Lara why my recent post flopped horribly. Within seconds, Lara pointed out an error I'd made. I followed her feedback and made ONE revision. One week later, I posted the "same" content. That post performed 10X BETTER than before. That's what happens when you work with experts. → You significantly reduce your learning time → You get to shortcut your way to growth  → You benefited from their talents We all have a special and unique talent. LinkedIn overwhelmed me, here’s how I’m rebuilding. In March 2024, I made a commitment.   I wanted to grow my LinkedIn and build a personal brand. I posted regularly.   I showed up.   But after 5 months, something happened. I got overwhelmed.   I started comparing myself to others.   LinkedIn started to feel scary. So, I stopped.   I didn't post for a month. But today, I’m starting again. This time, it’s different.   I’m not focusing on the outcome.   I’m focusing on the effort. → No more comparisons.   → No more overwhelm. I’m here to build, to learn, and to grow at my own pace.   I’m ready to put in the work, one step at a time. If you're on a similar journey, keep going. When I first started my LinkedIn journey, I had no idea how much my life would change. From 0 followers to a thriving community of 2,000, the growth has been incredible, and so has the transformation it sparked in me. — When I began: ↳ Limited connections. ↳ Unsure how to navigate the platform. ↳ No idea how to showcase my personal brand. ↳ Only a few likes here and there, barely any traction. ↳ Felt overwhelmed by the competition and pressure to stand out. — But now: ↳ Built meaningful relationships across the globe. ↳ Grown my personal brand, attracting opportunities I never imagined. ↳ Confidently sharing my story, inspiring others. ↳ Enjoying consistent engagement, feedback, and even collaborations! Here’s the truth: The road was tough. I faced doubts, self-judgement, and constant comparisons. But through consistent effort, I began to see LinkedIn not just as a platform but as a powerful tool for growth and connection. Every post, comment, and interaction started to build something bigger than I expected. It wasn’t luck. It was strategy, persistence, and trusting the process. So, to everyone out there feeling stuck or like your LinkedIn presence isn’t growing - keep pushing. Your story, your experiences, and your voice are unique, and people want to hear it. P.S. I took a break from LinkedIn for a couple of weeks. Here’s what happened: Absolutely nothing. Work was good. - My business ran as usual.  - I spent more time writing than usual.  - I (finally) launched my coaching program. Even though I wasn’t here - My business did better. And life was good too. - I went on a kayaking trip with friends.  - I read a couple books I’ve been looking forward to.  - My Dad helped us move house while he was visiting. (And spent the rest of his time on our new deck hanging out with my son and my dog - good times) Now I’m more energised than ever. All because I took some time off (without telling anyone). Look, consistency is important. Especially when you’re in a “growth” phase of your business. But that shouldn’t mean you’re locking yourself into a strict routine you're unable to step away from at times.   If you never take some time to disconnect - You’ll never get to experience that “freedom” you’re trying to build for yourself. — P.S. Trying to learn LinkedIn? One of the suggestions I keep seeing is share yourself... so here are a few of my business related highlights: - Returning to the marketplace after an eight-year hiatus, retirement wasn't my thing.   - Have built five businesses over my career.   - Grew the largest of those to low / mid-eight figures in revenue. - Was an early digital enterprise adopter. Launching, growing, and exiting a subscription/advertising revenue-based digital platform (1995 - 1997) - Have produced sports and entertainment programming for broadcast, cable, and digital distribution.   - Corporate World; climbed to a Regional Director position. Responsible for 5 states, an eight figure P&L, and a few hundred team members.   - Recently Authored and Published two business startup books. A third is almost finished.   - Recently joined LinkedIn. Currently I'm in a High-Octane Learning cycle.   - New business plan is to Coach / Create Content / Write Books

This is what I learned about the top 5% of LinkedIn creators. (You should learn from it as well) When I first started using LinkedIn, I saw it as a platform full of opportunities to grow and learn. At the beginning, it felt a bit overwhelming, but over time, I discovered a few key steps that can help anyone improve their presence here. While I’m still on this journey, I believe that applying these strategies consistently will not only help me but also anyone looking to grow on LinkedIn. Leaving my job was just the beginning. Showing up on LinkedIn? That was a whole new level of uncharted territory. 𝟯 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼, I went on a career break. 𝟮 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼, I started showing up on LinkedIn. 𝟭 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗼, I took up Lara Acosta's 30-day LinkedIn challenge. All for various reasons. But they share one thing in common: 𝗔 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵. To see what’s possible if I fully commit. To push myself beyond my comfort zone. To prove that overcoming fears unlocks new potential. 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆? 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹. I face a lot of self-doubt along the way (trust me, there’s lots more): Is my delivery clear? Is my content useful? Who am I speaking to? Am I oversharing my personal stories? What if it sounds like I’m trying too hard? Have I earned the rights to share my thoughts? Ughh, imposter syndrome 😫 But here’s what I figured: 𝗚𝗼 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼. Gain insights as you progress and embrace the journey as a learning experience. What did I gain along the way? 📈 42,000% impressions 📈 90,000% members reached 📈 416% follower growth 📈 3.13% engagement rate But more meaningfully? The great connections I’ve built. The inspiring people I’ve virtually met. The opportunity to make a difference by encouraging others to share their voices. So, if you’re on a discovery journey, know that every effort counts.
