Distractions in Disguise Opportunities are everywhere. Not all deserve your time or energy. I’m a visionary. I’ve been lured in.  I learned the hard way. Every yes comes with a no. Now before pursuing a new opportunity, I have a conversation . . .  with myself. ► What are the risks involved? ► Does this align with my core values? ► Does this align with my long-term goals? ► What is my primary motivation for considering this? ► What will I need to sacrifice or deprioritize in order to pursue this? ► Is this opportunity sustainable and scalable with my current responsibilities? Don’t be pressured to pursue. Discernment is essential. Most opportunities are merely distractions in disguise. They divert resources and focus. Commitment to my long-term, strategic goals is my blueprint to success. How do you decide whether or not to pursue an opportunity?

You ask, "How do you decide whether or not to pursue an opportunity?" If one still has to decide ... they clearly don't yet have enough information. To me, that usually means both parties sitting down and discussing how each could benefit from one another. Usually, each can shed a lot more light on the others own wants/needs, limitations/opportunities ... than at times, we can see for ourselves. But you have to be able to bare your soul (sort a speak), to get there. While we are all confident that we can row our own boat by ourselves, it sure is easier w/ people who are willing to share the chore.

These are great questions to ponder Brandi Larkin, PMP. There are so many things to distract us, fun things, interesting ideas, new tools, new business directions, the list goes on. I’ve been known to get distracted 😂 so I’m going to print this out and keep it near my desk!

I would add: Sometimes, calculated risks can lead to big rewards. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone if the opportunity aligns with your goals. 😊😊✌✌
