Months after University Grants Commissions (UGC) directed all central universities to "take serious steps" to fill vacant faculty posts, a RTI has revealed that nearly 27% of the sanctioned teaching positions across 46 central universities remain vacant. The numbers are far grimmer for reserved posts. As of 1 July, over 38% of the teaching posts reserved for candidates from #SC, #ST, #OBC remained vacant. Seven out of 10 seats under the #EWS category are yet to be filled. Read here: https://lnkd.in/gDx3ScKA

𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐁.𝐄𝐝. 𝐃𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 In a recent judgment, the Supreme Court has reaffirmed that a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree is not an adequate qualification for primary school teacher appointments. The Court upheld the Chhattisgarh High Court’s decision, which invalidated the appointments of B.Ed. degree holders as primary teachers and reiterated that the essential qualification remains a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.). The Supreme Court’s ruling underscores that the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) is the mandated qualification for primary school teachers, contrary to claims that a B.Ed. degree could suffice. The Court rejected a 2018 notification by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) that had deemed B.Ed. holders eligible for primary school teaching roles. The judgment affects recent appointments made under the Chhattisgarh School Education Services Rules, which had erroneously considered B.Ed. degrees as valid qualifications. The Supreme Court’s decision aligns with its previous ruling in Devesh Sharma v. Union of India (2023), where it was established that the fundamental right to quality primary education, as enshrined under Article 21A of the Indian Constitution and the Right to Education Act, 2009, mandates adherence to the D.El.Ed. qualification for primary teachers. The Supreme Court clarified that the Devesh Sharma judgment did not imply any allowance for B.Ed. candidates. It emphasized that B.Ed. holders cannot meet the pedagogical requirements for delivering quality primary education and that appointments based on B.Ed. qualifications, post-Devesh Sharma, are deemed invalid. #SupremeCourt #EducationLaw #BEd #PrimaryEducation #LegalUpdate #TeacherQualifications #DElEd #NCTE #JudicialReview #EducationStandards https://lnkd.in/dMkAyJMC Disclaimer: The Content in this post is for informational purposes only derived from references and does not constitute any professional advice. The schools in Hyderabad are very clear. Even if the parents don't get the yearly appraisal, the schools continue to increase the fee by 10% every year. The irony, do these schools reflect all these fees into infrastructure, facilities and qualitative teachers?? A BIG NO. I was interacting with a school teacher whose admission fee is INR 6 lacs and asked for stats on the number of admissions to IITs, JIPMER and AIMS. And the answer literally was this, " We don't stress our kids and encourage them to pursue arts, mass communications, language etc" While i don't under estimate the other courses, but if none of such high fee reflect in making students competitive and skillful. What are we paying these hefty fee for. Most common myth which these schools believe and propogate " A good English equivalent to the smartness of kids". I have seen people with impeccable vocab and speaking skills and yet idiotic at the core.

Good News from the Supreme Court! The Supreme Court has upheld the Maharashtra High Court judgment, declaring that the restriction preventing children from applying to private schools under the RTE if they live within 1 km of a government school is invalid, illegal, and has been quashed. This very constraint was successfully challenged and quashed in Uttar Pradesh back in 2015-16 through a landmark judgment by the Allahabad High Court, in which we played a key role. It’s heartening to see the precedent set by the Allahabad High Court being used to protect the rights of children in other states. The impact of our work in UP has contributed to this broader success, ensuring that more children across the country have access to quality education. This is a major win for the RTE and for the millions of children whose future depends on it. Read more about the Supreme Court's decision here: https://lnkd.in/gpUMcEaz) Let’s continue to advocate for the rights of every child to receive a quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Centre asks states to fix 6 years as minimum age for Class 1 admission - 📚 The Centre mandates that all states and Union Territories enforce a minimum age of six years for admission to Class 1, in line with the NEP 2020 and the RTE Act, 2009. - 📝 The Ministry of Education has issued a letter urging state governments and Union Territory administrations to align Class 1 admission age with NEP guidelines before the 2024-25 session, emphasizing the requirement for new admissions to meet the 6+ age criteria. - 🏫 NEP 2020 introduces a 5+3+3+4 school system, encompassing three years of preschool (ages three to six) and two years of Classes 1 and 2 (ages six to eight). - 🔍 As of March 2022, 14 states and Union Territories permit admission to Class 1 for children below six years, contrary to NEP guidelines. - 📊 The misalignment of minimum admission age affects the calculation of net enrolment ratios across states, as emphasized by the Centre. According to a circular issued by secondary education director Kanhaiya Prasad Srivastava, all students presently enrolled in Class XI in different degree colleges, will have to get themselves admitted in higher secondary #schools for doing their Class XII. Hence, the 2023-25 Inter batch would have a unique experience of having studied at two different types of institutions, degree colleges and higher secondary schools. https://lnkd.in/gNubNAR3

We are living in an era where no guardian wants to send their kids to Govt School but everyone want to send kids to govt College. Recently got a chance to interact with many Guardian while doing mentorship where even Central/ State govt employees not even ready to send their kids to govt School. And when talking to students they saying they are having 10-15 books for 5-6 subjects and hardly they able to complete any. Hope this trend will get change in Future. The only way the govt school condition will get better if govt come up with a policy of sending govt employees kids to govt school. Every Guardian wants to see their children going to IIT/NIT/IIIT/AIIMS but no one is ready to send their kids to Central/ State Govt Schools. And as a fact in my batch, more than half of the batch students were from Govt School. #government #govtschoolvsprivateschool #education
