Reflecting on my journey in sales, I can't help but marvel at the transformation from humble beginnings to where I stand today. It all started with a simple yet impactful role, selling baby photoshoot packages to new mothers at hospitals. Those early days taught me the essence of persuasion, empathy, and resilience. As time progressed, I found myself transitioning from being a salesperson to a mentor, guiding others to excel in the art of selling. Managing brand collaborations and engaging in direct sales with industry luminaries became my forte, eventually leading me to helm the entire sales division. However, amidst the success and comfort, a pivotal moment awaited during a trip with WanderOn. It was there, surrounded by the allure of exploration and adventure, that I realized my true calling. I yearned to sell not just products or services but experiences—moments that linger in memory long after the transaction is complete. Thus, despite the allure of stability and financial security, I made the daring choice to embark on a new path with WanderOn. It was a leap of faith, driven by the desire to delve deeper into self-discovery and embrace the exhilaration of the unknown. From a client to now working with them, my journey with WanderOn has been nothing short of transformative. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities for growth, reminding me of the exhilarating journey I embarked upon. While my role may have evolved beyond direct sales, my passion for nurturing talent and instilling the principles of effective selling burns brighter than ever. Guiding my team, imparting invaluable lessons, and emphasizing the significance of patience in sales are now my primary objectives. Looking back, I realize that taking that leap of faith was the best decision I could have made. It's a reminder that true fulfillment often lies beyond the confines of comfort zones. Learning the Art of the First Pitch 🎯 Looking back to when I started as a Sales Executive at Blue Dart, I was a beginner just trying to figure things out. Sales was new to me, and hitting targets felt like a distant goal. I didn’t quite understand where I was missing the mark, and my manager usually stepped in to close the deals. I decided to be open about it and spoke to him about my challenges. He listened patiently and invited me to join him in his sales presentations to observe his approach. What I saw was eye-opening: his first pitch was incredibly strong, creating trust and excitement in that very first meeting. The deals practically closed themselves after that! 🔥 I realized the impact of a well-crafted opening and began incorporating this approach myself. Slowly but surely, I moved from a struggling rookie to one of the top performers on the team. 🙌 This experience taught me two things: 1️⃣ Never underestimate the power of learning from others. 2️⃣ A powerful first pitch can make all the difference. So today I received the "Team Over Self" recognition award in the EMEA Salesloft Quarterly Awards. It's been three months since the announcement of Salesloft acquiring Drift, a Salesloft company and we role grew to lead EMEA Partnerships in the new organisation, and what a three months its been. Anyone who has been through an acquisition of any kind knows it is pretty full on! but I've been fortunate to have been able to play a role in bringing the two teams and companies together AND to be able to help shape what partnership looks like especially in EMEA. One thing that has blown me away has been the EMEA team in general, not only have they been incredibly welcoming, but the level of excitement and keenness to lean in around partnerships has frankly been unlike anything I have seen in my 25 year career. As an example, we held our ENT QBR's in our London office yesterday and every .... single .... presentation had an element of wanting to work with the partnerships team, every one! Building effective relationships is my passion (or my superpower as others have said) so to get recognition for doing something you love doing is a bit weird!. To not only have the support of all aspects of the company but to have them offering to work WITH me to build OUR partnership ecosystem and to get "shit done" has been incredible. Gratitude time! ..... Hi LinkedIN! Seventh video of breaking into Tech Sales! I wish I could have communicated better the importance of elevating our standards within the video. However, I do believe I did a pretty decent job providing you an example of how my son, Jacob elevated his standards as a freshman to succeed in his AP classes in high school. We must hold ourselves to a higher standard to attract the people, the circumstances, and attract the relationships we want into our lives. We are like magnets and for this reason, nothing happens by chance or by way of circumstance. Like attracts like, always. I appreciate all the past, present, and future interactions I'll have along the way 😉 This week was a week of self-reflection and appreciation of how far along I've made it in this process. I've yet to get hired, but I'm confident because of Course Careers I now understand how to approach any company to get interviewed. It takes patience, consistency, and ACTION ACTION ACTION, there are no shortcuts in the process of breaking into tech. My body language changes and even my tone of voice. OMG!! How embarrassing hehe, I didn't even know I could speak in that tone. The importance of positive self-talk is so crucial to our success in any endeavor we set out to accomplish. I could have easily edited it out, but what's the fun in that hehe. This is a prime example of why we must incorporate personal development into our daily lives, especially if we are in sales. I snapped out of it rather quickly, but nonetheless, it still came and blindsided me. It was just one of those kinds of weeks, but I'm excited and ready for what's to come.
