Today, almost everything works electrically and requires a reliable power supply. At the same time, ambitious climate goals and high energy prices are raising the bar for sustainable energy efficiency. Digitally supported electrical power distribution helps you meet these challenges using transparent data. Our concept for this is called SENTRON Digital. https://lnkd.in/dgsEpg5q

Correctly identify the problem and its causes, and you will find effective solutions. As the new EU Commission starts its first 100 days of work with a new European Parliament, we thought it would be useful to share our expertise of the buildings and heating market, to help identifying gaps and way forward to reach the EU climate goals. The reality is that Europe is not reaching the EU climate targets for buildings - which as we know represents 40% of total energy consumption in Europe. At the same time, we risk losing industrial competitiveness in a sector which is providing the technologies for the energy transition. Why? First, there is a weak DEMAND of products such as heat pumps, due to high electricity prices - which are set to grow higher due to the growing electrification of mobility and heating. Second, linked to that - in their own words - electricity grids are not ready to deal with the congestion due to changes in the supply (intermittent solar and wind production) and demand (higher and constant) of electricity. In the 'electrification' strategy of the past EU Commission, little attention was given to how ready the European electricity grid is and to the flexibility that can be provided by a parallel system based on both green electricity and green gases (and hybrid systems can be used to support that). Third, consumers need stable and clear incentives to afford the upfront investment in a new heat pump (or in an electric car?), as well as information on what is available in terms of suitable technologies for your specific house and government support (one stop shop, anyone?). Launching this debate at the start of the new European Parliament and Commission mandate was important because the solutions need to respond to what the problems are, otherwise they will not be solutions but just random 'feel good' measures.
Reducing emissions from the building sector while empowering consumers and supporting the industry’s competitiveness remains one of Europe’s key challenges on the path to achieving its #EnergyTransition targets. #HeatPumps are essential to advancing this transition, but success hinges on several key factors: 🔑 Consumers need clarity, incentives, and a strong business case to adopt clean technologies like heat pumps; 🏗️ The industry is innovating, but policies must support demand for large-scale deployment; ⚖️ Strong, predictable policy frameworks are key to aligning efforts across Member States and creating the conditions for market growth. This was at the heart of our chat in the European Parliament with Seán Kelly MEP, Jan Brockmann, Niels Ladefoged, and Chiara Delmastro, Ph.D. A heartfelt thank you to Seán Kelly MEP and his team for co-organising this event, to our exceptional speakers for their invaluable contributions, and to all the attendees for enriching the discussion with their perspectives! We are getting ready for Municipalia in 📍 Belgium! Did you know this European country is ... ✔️ One of the EU's frontrunners in carbon-free power generation, with an 85% share of carbon-free sources (nuclear 49% and renewable energy 36%). ✔️ Known for its clean tap water, thanks to strict regulations and efficient treatment processes. Belgian cities waste significantly less water than most of the world, with leakage rates below 15% compared to the global average of 10 –30%. 💧 ✔️ Rolling out smart meters across the country to improve efficiency and consumer control. By 2029, at least 80% of customers consuming above a certain threshold, must install smart meters. ✔️ Experiencing significant growth in the e-mobility sector. Government incentives and environmental awareness fuel Belgium's surge in electric vehicles. All new company cars will be electric by 2030, the shift to clean transportation. 🚗 This is where we come in! ➡️ We are ready to support Belgian cities, municipalities and utilities in their efforts towards a greener future: https://lnkd.in/dnSQxjhb #Municipalia #EnergyEfficiency #SmartCities --- Sources: European Comission, International Energy Agency, OECD, Roland Berger
