'Net zero is achieved when no incremental greenhouse gases are added to the atmosphere. This means that carbon emissions are balanced with the removal of carbon from the atmosphere (e.g. by certified carbon capture, forests, etc.). According to the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, we should aim to achieve net zero globally by 2050, at the latest, to avert climate disaster.'
🌊 Healthy oceans are more than just beautiful landscapes - they're the heartbeat of coastal and marine tourism, which accounts for a whopping 50% of total global tourism. 🐋 Their key role in regulating our climate buys us precious time in our fight against climate change. 🪸 Coastal tourism is uniquely positioned to help accelerate investment and pioneer new solutions to engage community and visitors in ocean regeneration. “There’s an ethical paradox of last-chance tourism,” Boluk told The Times, “and it involves the moral question of whether travelers acknowledge and respond to the harm they promote.” There is a compelling ethical dilemma surrounding last-chance tourism, as highlighted by Boluk in a recent interview with The Times. The crux of the matter lies in whether travelers are willing to recognize and address the negative impact they may inadvertently support through their actions. It raises important questions about responsibility and accountability in the travel industry. #EthicalTourism #Responsibility #climatechange

'Visit but leave no trace' is the cornerstone of responsible tourism today. With few pristine places left yet untouched by the trace of humans, we must ensure exploration, curiosity and the spirit of adventure can be tempered with a reverence for where we're wandering and what we leave behind. #climatechange #responsibletourism #climateaction #climatesolutions
