Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Master of Wine Students at our Estate for a brilliant week of tasting and seminars. To supplement the Institute of Masters of Wine busy student seminar program, our team also delivered an exclusive vertical tasting of six of our Pinot Noir vintages as well as a session on the pruning process in our Vineyard and a walk-through production and operations in our Winery. With the recent growth of the English wine industry, with Sussex in particular paving the way, it was a great week collaborating with the excellent people at the forefront of leadership and expertise in the global wine community.

Texas winemakers are tough, adapting to everything from hailstorms to scorching heat, and they still manage to produce some seriously award-winning wines. With over 800 wineries and 11,000 acres of vineyards, these winemakers have had to get creative. They use techniques like hail nets, wider vine spacing, and even advanced technologies like cryo-maceration to handle the state’s unpredictable weather. Wineries like Duchman, Spicewood, Bending Branch, and Pedernales are thriving, racking up medals despite the challenges. They grow over 70 different grape varieties, and there’s no single "signature grape" because the state is just too big and diverse. If you can’t make it out to the vineyards, check out Re, a cool wine bar in San Antonio that only serves Texas wines on tap. It's a fun way to sample the state's best, and learn a bit about its long wine history too. Read the article by Liz Thach, MW: https://zurl.co/I0nk
