I am a big advocate on effective communication, another great tip from Nausheen I. Chen A simple truth that can change your video calls. Don't be a floating head. When your audience can't see your hands, it’s not just awkward—it actually signifies danger. This isn't a random fact. The reason goes all the way back to evolution. Humans have evolved to read body language. Seeing hands makes people feel safe. Hidden hands can trigger a subconscious sense of threat. To avoid this, always ensure your camera captures your upper body, including your hands. This simple adjustment can make your video calls more engaging and less stressful for everyone involved. Here are some tips to help you avoid being a floating head: → Position your camera correctly Make sure the camera is at eye level and far enough to capture your hands. A tripod or a stack of books can help. → Use good lighting Proper lighting ensures that your gestures are visible. Natural light is best, but a desk lamp can work too. → Practice good posture Sit up straight and use your hands naturally as you speak. This makes you appear more confident and trustworthy. → Test your setup Before an important call, do a test run. Check how you look on camera and make adjustments as needed. → Be mindful of your background A clean and uncluttered background keeps the focus on you and your gestures. Curious? Watch the video to find out how. ♻️ Please repost this if you learned something new! P.S. Have you ever seen “floating heads” in meetings? Yes/no?

Keep the faith. Long-term change takes time and relies on mutual trust between all parties to achieve. Taking a participatory approach isn’t linear, and it isn’t easy. We know there will be bumps along the way. Our goal is to fail forward; to try, to learn (from our own journey and from others), and to grow. If we trust the process, and express that same deep trust to people and partners, success will follow. This is Episode IV: Trust. It's not intentional. This is very true. Hand and body gestures tell you a lot about the person your in the presence of. It can lay your total success or full demise. Here are 3 Hand & Body Gestures to keep in mind during meetings. #1 I go in every meeting putting my body forward, my hands on table and my eyes on them. It's not intentional, its natural. Build trust by showing trust. #2 Show they matter, always. Try your best to avoid this move - sitting back with one hand on table. Your either all in or not in it at all. #3 Avoid the phrase, "gotcha" or "i hear you" in a discussion. Majority of times they are not hearing you. Test them on it. Trust is built on listening. Ask yourself, you really listen to your clients and friends or you choose when to listen. When in the presence of others, always be self aware. It's a good a thing.
