The Boeing 757-200 has experienced a significant increase in market value in 2024, with current estimates ranging from $7.8 million to $15.86 million. This rise is primarily due to a reduction in the number of active passenger aircraft and sustained demand in the freighter market. Notably, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have decreased their 757-200 fleets, with Delta operating 25 aircraft and United 40, down from 111 and 51, respectively, in 2021. The decline in active passenger 757-200s has led to a tighter supply, thereby increasing the aircraft’s market value. Additionally, the freighter sector continues to show strong interest in the 757-200, further supporting its valuation. Factors such as airframe hours, engine hours, maintenance records, and overall condition continue to influence individual aircraft pricing.

A new issue on some Boeing 737 fuselages will slow production and require re-work on about 50 airplanes, Boeing said. The problem stems from work done at Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita. Two rivet holes do not meet Boeing’s specifications and must be re-worked on affected airframes. Boeing is developing specific re-work instructions, including the length of time each repair will require. “While this issue could delay some near-term 737 deliveries, this is the only course of action given our commitment to deliver perfect airplanes every time,” Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Stan Deal said in a Feb. 4 internal message. “The days we are setting aside in the 737 program will allow time for our teams to complete the inspections and, if needed, perform the necessary rework.” Read more at: https://lnkd.in/eAFmS88y #AviationTalk #aviationnews #avgeek #aviation #boeing

Boeing delivered fairly a positive performance and earnings report for 2023, but the results are clouded by the ongoing inquiry into the cause of an in-flight cabin failure for an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 jet on January 5. There were no fatalities in the incident, but the issue has put Boeing’s most profitable aircraft program under the scrutiny of the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board. On January 31 Boeing reported it delivered 528 commercial airplanes in 2023 (including 396 of the 737 MAX series, nine more than in 2022); and logged 1,576 net new aircraft orders for the year (up from 774 net new orders in 2022.) It was one Boeing’s best-ever years for orders and deliveries, hitting its revised goal for deliveries – a critical metric for revenue – but it missed the original forecast.
