(3/7) What the heck are B-rolls?
It's not a car brand, nor a sushi type.
I found a solution to my first YouTube video being a bit boring. In this video, I just talk in front of the camera to deliver my message. Something is lacking.
-> B-rolls!
A-roll is the main footage in a video, often featuring the primary action or interviews. It's the core narrative or message.
B-roll, on the other hand, is supplementary footage that adds context, detail, and visual interest, such as shots of surroundings or activities related to the A-roll.
While A-roll tells the story, B-roll shows elements of it, enriching the overall video with diverse visual elements.
For example, while a chef talks about the importance of using fresh tomatoes for a sauce (A-roll), we could see short clips of tomatoes growing in a garden and close-ups of chopping tomatoes.
Now you know. 🙂
PS: In this mini-series of 7 episodes, I share with you all the things I learn while creating my YouTube channel.
