Happy Labour Day! As we try to have the much deserved rest, have you actually ever thought about this? Have you communicated it to your peers & colleagues or are you just seated back wondering why your peers never support your business. Every meeting we have an open networking session with a question guiding us to know just a little bit more about ourselves, our businesses & share knowledge. This week we tried to understand "What the best way to introduce us to our target client was" and we're tasked to think more about it and be more intentional in communicating it to our peers for the best outcomes. Some of the answers given were 1. Take me along on your visit to the client 2. After assessing the need for my services, accompany them to my office 3. Give them my business card 4. You first experience my service, then tell another person about me. From BNI Amazing, Uganda we'd like to extend this networking question to you, tell us.... what's the best way to introduce you to your target client? #happylabourday #businessnetworking #bni #b2bmarketing #referralmarketing #changingthewaytheworlddoesbusiness

Dear start up and self-employed person, You need to nurture relationships with other business people and entrepreneurs. When I joined BNI Uganda in October 2019, one of the activities I found was visiting other business people within the network. BNI stands for Business Network International, and our core business is referring each other for business. Now we do not refer people just because they are in our Chapters. We refer people with confidence because we connect with them, understand their businesses better, like them, trust them and use their services. Every week, each member will visit at least one business person, making a total of over 700 such visits every week across the eight chapters. If you want people to refer you for business, make it a point to connect. It takes work for relationships to grow to a point of referring you with confidence. Referrals mean I trade my trust for you; such trust will not pop up just because I met you in a meeting room, or saw you on LinkedIn. On these social spaces, you need to give people reason to trust you: ✔️Does your content position you as an expert in your field? ✔️Do people see other trusted subject matter experts as part of your network? ✔️Do your followers see who other users of services and products are? Showing your followers evidence of work can trigger a desire for them to try you out too. It is not enough to tell people what you do; show them too. ✔️How else can they verify your information? A website for instance can be one of your addresses? I sometimes interact with LinkedIn followers who end up checking out the Imagine Me Africa Ltd website (www.imaginemeafrica.com). ✔️If a professional network exists in your field, are you part of that network? I receive phone calls for example where potential #coaching services users in Uganda and other jurisdictions ask about coaches being part of ICF Uganda Charter Chapter or International Coaching Federation in general. Embark on a journey to take your start up to the next level. In BNI we are taught that people will only do business with you when they know you, like you, and trust you. One of the businesses that has passed the test on all three grounds on my end is Impact Woods Ltd. In the picture I had visited the business premises. #Iamyouremploymenttransitioncoach

Networking in Africa: Building Strong Professional Relationships In Africa’s diverse and fast-growing business landscape, the power of networking cannot be overlooked. Building strong professional relationships is not just about exchanging business cards; it’s about creating meaningful connections that open doors to opportunities, foster collaboration, and inspire personal growth. Networking in Africa offers unique opportunities to leverage the continent’s rich cultural diversity and entrepreneurial spirit. However, successful networking requires intentionality, authenticity, and a commitment to cultivating long-term relationships. Tips for Building Strong Professional Relationships in Africa: Be Authentic: Genuine relationships are built on trust. Approach networking with sincerity, aiming to establish meaningful connections rather than simply expanding your contact list. Leverage Cultural Understanding: Africa’s diverse cultures offer opportunities to learn and connect on a deeper level. Take time to understand the customs, languages, and traditions of the people you interact with to foster stronger connections. Give Before You Take: Networking is a two-way street. Offer value to others before asking for something in return. This could be through sharing knowledge, providing support, or connecting them to useful resources. Attend Industry Events: Engage in conferences, seminars, and networking events relevant to your industry. These platforms offer the opportunity to meet like-minded professionals and broaden your network. Follow Up and Stay Connected: After initial meetings, make an effort to maintain and nurture the relationship. Regular communication and follow-ups are key to building long-term professional relationships. Examples of Networking Success in Africa: Tony Elumelu: As a prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu has used his network to foster entrepreneurship across Africa through the Tony Elumelu Foundation, helping thousands of young entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses. Ibukun Awosika: As a former chairperson of First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun’s success in corporate leadership is underpinned by strong professional relationships built over time, enabling her to influence change in various sectors. Networking in Africa is not just about expanding your connections; it’s about building relationships that lead to collective success and personal growth. Let’s create connections that strengthen Africa’s future, one relationship at a time. 🌱🤝 #Networking #Africa #ProfessionalRelationships #Collaboration #CareerGrowth #Entrepreneurship

NETWORKING! WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? LETTER TO THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN BUSINESSMAN/WOMAN. Why Connections are King (and Queen) in Business Development in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and across the world. Forget the latest marketing trends for a sec. In the hustle and bustle of Nigerian business, sometimes the old ways are still the gold ways. That's right, we're talking about networking, the age-old art of building relationships that open doors and fuel success. Here in Naija, networking isn't just exchanging business cards at a fancy event (although those can be fun too!). It's about building genuine connections, fostering a spirit of "egunje" (reciprocity), and leveraging the power of your community. Think about it: · You meet a fellow entrepreneur at an industry gathering. You chat about challenges, share insights, and discover a potential partner for a future project. Bam! Collaboration unlocked. · Your aunty's friend's cousin twice removed works at a major company. You strike up a conversation, leave a good impression, and get your foot in the door. Boom! New business opportunity alert. · You participate in online groups or forums, offering helpful advice and engaging in discussions. Soon, you're recognized as an expert in your field. Pow! Increased brand awareness and credibility. So, how can you become a networking ninja? · Step out of your comfort zone: Attend industry events, join online communities, and strike up conversations with people you meet. · Be a good listener: People appreciate those who genuinely care about what they have to say. · Offer value: Share your expertise, connect people with resources, and be a source of support. · Follow up: Don't let connections fizzle out. Stay in touch and nurture your relationships. Remember: Networking is a marathon, not a sprint. Be patient, be genuine, and watch your business flourish with the power of good networks! Demystifying the Essentials for Businesses (Week2) #Networking #BusinessDevelopment #Nigeria #Egunje #ConnectionsMatter #BestGreen
