As I reflect on my time at EPM Solutions Ltd and the immense privilege I had in working with and visiting some of the most innovative companies in the UK, I'm struck by the potential for revitalising Scotland's manufacturing industry. My experiences across a wide range of sectors has reinforced a common thought: we have the capability to manufacture more products right here in Scotland. Scotland's rich industrial heritage, from the thread mills of Paisley to our shipyards, coal mines, and steel works, serves as a testament to our nation's innovative spirit. While many of these traditional industries have declined, their legacy inspires us to reshape our manufacturing capabilities for the modern era and beyond. Throughout my career, I’ve made countless connections across many diverse sectors, which has deepened my appreciation for the potential of Scottish manufacturing. I’ve observed how collaboration can unlock new opportunities and drive innovation. The key to Scotland's manufacturing future lies in nurturing these connections and linking not just industries together but also their supply chains. A revitalised manufacturing sector will stimulate much required economic growth and create jobs within our communities, fostering stability and prosperity. Additionally contributing to an ecosystem where collaboration leads to technological advancements, positioning Scotland as a leader in sustainable production practices. Recent developments, such as the cutting-edge research facility in Glasgow focusing on next- generation technologies, demonstrate Scotland's commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation. This facility exemplifies the kind of forward-thinking approach that can drive our manufacturing sector into the future. The way forward isn’t about recreating the past; it’s about building on our strengths and adapting to new challenges. It’s crucial that "Made in Scotland" becomes synonymous with innovation, quality, and environmental responsibility. Transitioning away from fossil fuels is an opportunity for Scottish manufacturing! This shift allows us to focus on innovation and sustainability, making Scotland a leader in high-value manufacturing. With advancements in technology and a commitment to renewable energy, we can attract new investments and create jobs. Scotland’s Green Industrial Strategy is all about using our local talent and resources to drive economic growth. By embracing these changes, we can build a bright future for our industries, where collaboration and forward-thinking ideas lead the way. The future of Scottish manufacturing is full of promise! #manufacturing #netzero #industrialstrategy #technology #futurescotland #innovation #connections

Excited to shine a light on what the Pathways Launch Committee has been cooking up for the western markets conversation. They’re proposing something pretty cool: carving out separate lanes for the CAISO balancing authority and its market operations, which is a first-ever move. This means we’re keeping every state's individual needs in mind while also making room for some serious teamwork across states. This whole strategy is a win-win. It’s about making things work smoother and more cost-effectively while keeping every state’s own goals in the mix. We’re talking a major step forward to a more connected, greener future for the West - with an eye on eventually rolling out a regional transmission organization (RTO). Big shoutout to the Pathways Launch Committee (including my colleague, Brian T. Turner) for daring to redraw the lines and lay the groundwork for lower electric bills, more jobs, and a sturdier, cleaner energy system that matches our clean energy goals. #EnergyInnovation #CleanEnergy #CAISO #RegionalIntegration #FutureIsBright https://lnkd.in/g5w7rYJh

With the new RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) Standard taking effect this week, Asseticom are perfectly placed to help users to identify the embodied carbon of their assets when adopting the standard. Our surveying software has the functionality to report on embodied carbon across the asset life cycle, providing critical insights for net zero and sustainable project planning. Compiling life cycle plans using both cost and carbon provides a more informed view of the impacts of asset renewals, allowing carbon hotspots to be identified and addressed early on. Read the RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) Standard here: Whole life carbon assessment (WLCA) for the built environment (http://rics.org) Book a demo here: https://asseticom.co.uk #RICS #WLCA #Surveying #NetZero #Assetmanagement

Increasing bid success across major sectors. Two very different but often aligned perspectives from Jarrod Irving and Veronica Simeoni, expertly moderated by the suave Martin Coombs. Focus on green energy and consumables is increasing, as it rightly should. Investment in this space is huge and the risk when it goes wrong is often of significant consequence. So quality time up front needs to go into the sourcing for these projects. A recurring theme from all the speakers at the conference so far is more collaboration and cooperation between both sides of the tendering transaction is needed for major projects to be successful. "Starting that process when a tender request is issued to market is too late" - hear, hear! Another quality session at the APMP ANZ Chapter conference.

As the deadline for the latest round of Salix funding closes today, I'm proud to reflect on Veolia's significant contributions to the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) projects across the UK. Over the past few years, we've had the privilege of supporting numerous organisations in their journey towards decarbonisation. Our involvement hasn't just been about helping secure funding – it's been about partnering with these organisations every step of the way. From the initial stages of crafting compelling funding applications to the final implementation of innovative, energy-efficient solutions, Veolia has been there, offering expertise, guidance, and hands-on support. Our success stories span a wide range of public sector institutions – from hospitals and schools to local government buildings. Each project represents a step towards a more sustainable future and showcases the transformative power of the PSDS initiative. As we look ahead, we're excited about the potential of the projects currently in the pipeline. The latest round of Salix funding will undoubtedly catalyse even more ambitious decarbonisation efforts, and Veolia stands ready to turn these plans into reality. To all our partners and clients who have embarked on this journey with us – thank you for your trust and collaboration. Together, we're not just reducing carbon footprints; we're shaping a cleaner, greener future for our communities. #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #PublicSector #PSDS #SalixFunding #NetZero #Veolia
