We have Sonic Colors on Switch and soon Generations. The Adventure games are kind of the last highly-renowned 3D Sonic games that aren't on modern consoles yet. I'm sure Heroes has its fans just like Unleashed, and I personally liked Sonic Lost World and would happily welcome a Switch port. But these are all objectively more niche games that aren't revered across the board like Colors, Generations, and Adventure are. Really bizarre. I haven't played Heroes myself, but I get the impression it's one of those games where if you don't have nostalgia from playing it as a child, there's probably not much of a reason to play it now. Here's hoping we get the Adventure games at some point. I'm not sure if they're for me, but I'd at least like to give the first one in particular a try. The second one seems pretty tedious--the Knuckles levels look frustrating as all heck. But I would still give it a go, and fans of Adventure have waited long enough. I'm sure they'd be happy with even just a direct port instead of a full-on remake. Sega can't be dumb enough to not know the demand is there. The controls seem pretty jank compared to more modern Sonic titles, so I would prefer a remake that refines Sonic's movement. dgpConsent.can\('targeting',function \(\) \{ !function\(f,b,e,v,n,t,s\) \{if\(f.fbq\)return;n=f.fbq=function\(\)\{n.callMethod?n.callMethod.apply\(n,arguments\):n.queue.push\(arguments\)\};if\(!f._fbq\)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';n.queue=\[\];t=b.createElement\(e\);t.async=!0;t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName\(e\);s.parentNode.insertBefore\(t,s\)\}\(window, document,'script','https://lnkd.in/esdC595N', '2325732614399478'\); fbq\('track', 'PageView'\); \}\); Source link

Can we go back to 18-23 hour long games? Maybe developers and gamers would do well with it. Shawn Layden, former chairman of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, gave a long interview to Eurogamer, in which he talked about the increased costs of game development and the length of games, among other things. In his opinion, the games are too long, which is not in line with our reality. "I would like to see a world where you can get back to 18 to 23 hours of gameplay, but with gameplay so compelling you don't want to put the controller down." It's true: as a developer, it's hell to make games with hundreds of hours of playing time, but on the other hand, as a player, it's probably not the best way to have fun either. Many open world games are full of filler parts that only virtually increase the playing time. On the other hand, almost every moment of the original Resident Evil 4 was unforgettable - it's no wonder that it can be sold again and again to this day, and the remake is also doing well. Even that game wasn't longer than 15-20 hours. It's not the length of a game that makes it good, but the fact that each interaction and challenge is memorable. Perhaps we should again draw inspiration from the classic arcade games, which impressed people in a few minutes even without expensive cutscenes and massive open worlds.
Former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden says 100-hour games are a "mismatch" to today's reality: "I haven't even opened Red Dead Redemption 2, because I don't have 90 hours"

The return of the F2P games, the Empire of mobile games and maybe the end of the PC games. For now the Chinese game developers are much faster and much better then the western game developers. Made-in-India mobile games just had its #Cyberpunk moment! The hype train never bodes well for games. #Indus by #SuperGaming feels more like a wasted opportunity than anything else. Uncooked and bland, the devs had over 2 years of hype-building (and even more years of actual development) to get the battle royale right. It failed. Spectacularly. How it is dealing with the fallout isn't commendable either. Anywho, if you were wondering if Indus: Battle Royale i worth your MBs, well, it's not! I played the game, so you don't have to.
