Where are today's Roman Numerals #Maxis? Could they be descendants from the same gene pool of steadfast highly-educated folks who fought against the adoption of Arabic Numerals? Europeans first heard of Arabic Numerals in ~ 10th Century, but it took 300 years for the #RomanNumerals maxis to get past their reluctance. It does seem they have passed on their genes to those who today vehemently support #CentralBanks and #MoneyPrinting, perpetuate Keynesian Economics, #MMT, and tout #fiat > #bitcoin.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 🌎 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦? In ancient Rome, the abbreviation SPQR (𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘴) on coins was a #nudge that extended far beyond mere decoration. It signified the backing of the Roman Senate and People, serving as a vital emblem of legitimacy and trust in the currency’s value. This small symbol played a crucial role in transitioning Rome from a barter-based economy to one dominated by coinage. Today, this type of economy is the basis for virtually all trade, including the rise of new types of currencies (eg #cryptocurrency) The psychological impact of SPQR on Roman citizens and trade partners can be explained through the #neuropsychology of the human #brain, particularly the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC). The OFC is adept at processing values that range from concrete goods to abstract concepts. This area of the brain evolved to handle increasingly abstract forms of value, such as currency, which, unlike barter goods, do not hold intrinsic value but are a medium of exchange backed by societal trust. This blend of ancient trust-building and modern understanding of brain function shows how Rome didn't just create a currency system—it tapped into deep cognitive capabilities, setting the stage for sophisticated economic systems based on the power of symbols and trust. Our brains are not just reacting passively to stimuli but are actively constructing our understanding of value in ways that have shaped societies through the ages. #neuroeconomics #value #economics #neuromarketing #consumerneuroscience #nudging

Did You Know? Durian DNA has approximately 46,000 genes – almost double that of humans Scientists in Singapore have found that durian has some 46,000 genes making the fruit far more complex than human DNA. The researchers also found that durian DNA has four times the amount of genes related to sulfur compounds compared its cousin cacao, which helps explain its strong aroma. #agroforestrygroup #AFG #malaysia #singapore #durian #durianlovers #musangking #MSW #ownatree #investnow #Investments #bitcoin #forex #plantations #internationalplantations

Ancient Indian scriptures state that the same consciousness resides in every universal entity. Illustrating this unity, they draw parallels, like how various ornaments made from gold retain the essence of gold, or how water and ice share the same molecular composition despite their distinct appearances. Erwin Schrödinger, recognizing these parallels, emphasizes the enduring connection between ancient Indian philosophy and contemporary scientific principles. Hence, this is my chosen quote of the day! “Freely, and spontaneously agreeing to reciprocally giving and receiving is the fundamental force that drives every market and more broadly human behaviour, collaboration, and interaction.” — Yours Truly Chapter 5 - Exchange Risk - is out! 🚀 From the dawn of civilisation humans have been building social networks in order to survive. Social bonding, collaboration, and trading is what literally makes us human. It is what allowed us to win the evolutionary race with other species, by imagining what didn't exist (the future) and to have the audacity to build it. In this chapter, we are presenting a digest of the history of trading from the origin to bitcoin, and highlighting the relevance of "Exchange risk". As an industry, we are working quite extensively on new technology to address this issue in crypto markets but it is important to learn from the past on what failed and why. With this we hope to spark very interesting conversations 🔥🔥🔥. Feedback always welcome, no background required! Léonard Korkmaz https://lnkd.in/eEKxKra5

In case you missed Adriano's latest article, information is everything in our line of business but having a broader understanding is even more important to fully grasp the social implications of this world movement that is the blockchain. Having founded Colossus Digital, amongst other activities also a custodian I cannot underline the importance of the full understanding of counterparty risk which is perfectly explained in the article. Enjoy!
