Just before Prohibition took hold, Mader’s Restaurant released a bold advertisement urging folks to stock up on liquor and beer while they still could. The message was clear—get your fill of the good stuff before the taps ran dry. It was a final call to action, capitalizing on the uncertainty of what life without legal booze might look like. As the clock ticked toward the 18th Amendment’s enforcement, establishments like Mader’s were doing their best to help patrons prepare for the dry spell ahead. 📸 Source: From the Historic Photo Collection of the Milwaukee Public Library.

For my friends in the #CedarParkTX #LeanderTX #LibertyHillTX area: swing by my favorite Chinese restaurant "Woks it 2 U" (https://www.woksit2u.com). Over the years I've thoroughly enjoyed more than my fair share of Combo Fried Rice, Kung Pao Beef and Sesame Chicken. Tell Brandon I said Howdy! #EatLocal #LocalBusinessAlert #SmallBusiness

"How about the dumb enough to keep voting Democrat surcharge?" Just when you thought that California bureaucrats had run out of ideas to socialist micromanage every restaurant in the state into wokeness, they have passed another restaurant bill, this time allowing restaurants to continue charging service fees, mandatory gratuities and other surcharges as long as customers are alerted to the add-ons before they order. This comes just after another bill banned such practices. #california #restaurantindustry #justgiveup #micromanagement #somekindofstupid #departmentofduh

Vote NOW for the UK’s Best Food Hall! Food halls are an increasingly important part of the street food revolution. They give traders a new income stream, and they make SO much sense for the public. Why would you commit to a night out at a restaurant, with a narrow-focus menu, when you and your friends can eat your way round a host of unique and independent street food traders in the one location? Food halls are like food courts of old, but without the Burger King. Or the vinyl tabletops. Good food halls are bold, well-dressed, and indicative of the new confidence in British food. Some of them (we can talk about which ones....) are filled with the new food heroes that work the street – the sort of trader that competes in the British Street Food Awards. Some of them, however, are filled with brands that have been dreamt up in board meetings to LOOK that way. But who does it best? After calling for nominations on Facebook, instagram and Twitter, we'll list the three most popular and put them to a public vote. At the grand finals of the 2024 British Street Food Awards final (Hackney Bridge on September 13-15) where the very best traders in Britain will be cooking their hearts out to win the British title AND a place in the grand finale of the 2024 European Street Food Awards in Germany – we’ll announce our winners. So please let us know? In the comments below - and on instagram? #foodhall #streetfood

This week's #RegulatoryWednesday shares an update for more than 10,000 restaurants, hotels, c-stores, and grocery stores in Pennsylvania. Senate Bill 688 passed allowing for spirit-based RTDs to be sold alongside beer and wine for businesses. Retailers will need a new RTD Cocktail Permit to participate. Thanks for the update, Wendy Turk and cheers to more beverage options available!
