The Department of Justice has issued guidance to election officials on how and when voters can be removed from the rolls under federal law. In short, the DOJ makes clear that this close to an election, the time for mass challenges to voter eligibility has passed, and that voters should not be removed from the voter rolls based on third-party complaints. The guidance comes after election conspiracists orchestrated campaigns to have private citizens baselessly challenge thousands of voter registrations, using flawed, outdated, and inaccurate software to identify voters. Election Day is here, and your vote is important! 🇺🇸 Many of our clients experience voting barriers — from mobility, mental health, and substance use challenges that make it difficult to stand in line, to a lack of access to transportation to polling places, to misunderstanding their voter rights. 4 big things to keep in mind today: - Eligible voters in Minnesota experiencing homelessness can register to vote today at the polls by using the location of where they sleep as their "voting residence." - If you can’t read or need help voting due to disability, you can have someone join you to help you vote. You can also ask the election judge to help you if you didn’t bring anyone with you. - Your name and the location you list as your address when registering to vote are public records, but for voters concerned about their safety or privacy concerns, there are ways to register without making your information public. - You have the right to take time off work to vote without losing your pay, personal leave, or vacation time if voting falls within your scheduled work time. Learn more about your voter rights here: https://bit.ly/2VdwB97 — and then get out there and vote!

My latest post - Applying Second Order Cybernetics to Voting: #Vote #Cybernetics #SecondOrderCybernetics Through first order cybernetics, we might simply ask, “Does my vote really matter?” But second order cybernetics prompts us to ask, “How am I part of what makes my vote matter or not?” The first order view sees the voting system as fixed and unchangeable. The second order perspective recognizes that we are part of the system we’re observing – the patterns exist because of how people (including ourselves) act. https://lnkd.in/g3nFDnxY

We know the barriers to voting that abusers create, but are some advocates putting up road blocks for domestic violence survivors too?? 👀 One of our staff worked at a DV shelter during an election a number of years ago and tells this story.... "During a staff meeting, the shelter manager mentioned that a community organization had contacted the shelter to ask if they could send materials for residents to register to vote. The manager told the organization that 'survivors are in crisis and they have higher priorities than voting, so no, they could not send materials.' Hmmmm. What was the harm in supplying the opportunity and letting survivors make their own choices about what is and isn't a priority, individually?? This brand of protective paternalism is sometimes exhibited among service providers and I think about it during every election, wondering how many survivors are not being empowered to make their own choices around voting." Thank you to @nomoreorg for creating this fantastic state-by-state guide for survivors - and advocates- to learn about options to make voting safer and easier.🗳️ #VoteReady #SupportSurvivors #Empowerment #DVsurvivor #domesticviolence #relationshipabuse #myPlanApp

Facing Unprecedented Threats, Jewish Voters Take Action at the Ballot Box; 6 days to go!!! Your daily ballot brief What’s Happening: Antisemitism has long been top of mind for the Jewish community here in the United States. However, in the year following Oct. 7, this has become even more paramount with antisemitic rhetoric and crimes reaching historic levels across the country. Now that issue is front and center on the ballot in the upcoming election, and it's driving Jewish voters not only to vote, but even swaying some to vote for an alternate party for the first time. 67% of Jewish voters are more likely to vote given the rise in antisemitism according to our recent poll* *conducted August 2024 Why it Matters: The need to have elected officials who stand up against antisemitism has never been greater. This is true in places like California, where antisemitism has run rampant in the last year. This includes a burglar shouting "kill Jews" at a family, an attack on a Jewish couple in Beverly Hills, and most notably, riots that broke out in front of a synagogue in the heart in front of a synagogue leading to arrests and damage. The Jewish community sought a way to create change, helping launch Los Angeles Unites - our voter mobilization effort in the district, driven in large part by a cohort of passionate community volunteers. Together, we are empowering Jewish voters to use their voices to ensure their elected officials represent their needs and concerns. What it Means for You: Unfortunately, many of us have experienced similar incidents of hate in our own backyards over the last year. The answer to this is voting. Whether you have a representative you want to see re-elected, or are looking for a fresh start, the best way to protect your family and your community is to use the power of your vote.

The WhiteHouse Talking Points - Wed, May 29 at 8:11 PM - Hi there – Here are five stories from the states that we would appreciate your help in amplifying, including President Biden and Vice President Harris’ launch of Black Voters for Biden-Harris during a campaign event in Philadelphia, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison uplifting the Biden administration’s support for rural communities in North Carolina, police officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6 warning against Trump’s MAGA agenda during a visit to Arizona, and a mother who lost a child during the tragic Uvalde school shooting championing President Biden’s leadership on gun violence reform. 1. Pennsylvania Capital-Star: Biden and Harris campaign in Philadelphia with focus on Black voters Key Point: “For the first time this year in Pennsylvania, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will participate in a campaign event together, in the battleground state’s biggest city. The joint appearance at Girard College announcing the launch of Black Voters for Biden-Harris underscores the importance of Black voters to the Biden-Harris campaign, a crucial voting bloc that helped the ticket win Pennsylvania in 2020. ‘We will continue to be aggressive, innovative, and thorough in our work to earn the support of the very voters who sent Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House in 2020 and will do so again in 2024,’ Biden-Harris 2024 Principal Deputy Campaign Manager Quentin Fulks said in a statement Wednesday announcing the launch.” Tweet This Article 2. WITN: Democratic National Committee chairman campaigns for President Biden in Eastern Carolina Key Point: “The chair of the Democratic National Committee continued a sweep of Eastern Carolina to drum up support for President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. … Harrison focused on American infrastructure funding passed and implemented under Biden and health care. He told those on hand that former President Trump has made it clear he intends to repeal the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare as it’s commonly known. Harrison also took aim at Trump’s efforts to remain in office following the 2020 election. ‘There’s only been one president in this nation’s history who led an insurrection, a coup on our capital, who defied the Constitution of the United States. And that’s the thing that binds all of elected officials. That one person is Donald Trump. Joe Biden has been fighting to protect and secure our Constitution and the rights that that Constitution gives all Americans,’ Harrison says.” Tweet This Article 3.
