Vice President Kamala Harris selects Howard University, her alma mater, as her Election Night headquarters on November 5, underscoring her HBCU background and ties to the Divine 9. Reports suggest the Harriet Tubman Quadrangle as the likely on-campus location, where Harris will celebrate this historic night with strong support from Black voters. Throughout her campaign, she has highlighted the importance of HBCUs and her pride in Howard's impact on her life and career. https://lnkd.in/gUkNPZ53
Some of these comments on this post are sad. We can not and will never be able to set ourselves aside from our race. It is natural to honor those and that from which you have come from as it has helped to shape who you are. This is a full circle moment for humankind regardless of race but yes she is a Black, Jamaican, Indian American woman who went to an HBCU and was born and raised in an ethnically diverse but mostly black neighborhood. I’m looking forward to her getting elected because some of these conversations about race are taking us back to before the civil rights movement and we have come way too far to bring back that hate to our democracy
That will be EPIC!! LOVE ❤️ THIS! Proud HBCU graduate & Divine 9 (DST) here… HAMPTON UNIVERSITY, GoPirates!

But I thought race and gender had nothing to do with this?
It’s quite fitting for her to choose HU. HBCUs have always provided the foundation of progress for the African American/black agenda to blossom. She is giving credit where it rightfully is deserved. It will be a magical night on HU’s campus.
“But she’s not black…” Eyeroll She is literally and figuratively divine! Members of late husband’s family attended Howard University since 1910s…. I can’t express the joy I feel about her selection!!! History-making candidacy at every level….Will be thrilling to see her win at Howard…Full-circle of one chapter and the beginning of another…
As a Spelman Alum, I love that MVP will use her platform this way. Choosing Spelman was the best decision of my life. Now, the world will see why HBCU’s are so special.

3wI love how she's viewing this as a full circle process. You think of who supported you along the way, and how you want to be there for the next generation of leaders.
