ZipRecruiter data has shown that workers who swapped from fully remote to fully in-office set-ups in the US received a 29.2% pay increase. The notion of being compensated more to work in-office full time is starting to gain some traction, but is this a step forwards for employers, or a step back? This article raises a lot of legitimate questions for HR professionals, most notably: - What are these employers ultimately hoping to achieve by paying this premium? - Will this offering enable them to attract and retain the best talent? - Are they risking competitors delivering their services at a lower cost, as they can attract and retain high quality employees who can deliver the same services for less? Much like the infamous King Cnut, who wrongly believed he could change the tide to act in his favor, is it possible that these employers might meet a similar fate? How Can Remote Employees Safely Work While Traveling Abroad? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gm3itEry #WorkTravel #RemoteWork #InternationalTravel #HRConcerns #EmployeeCoverage Hey there! 👋 I’m currently navigating a bit of a tricky situation as the HR manager for a small non-profit. One of my remote employees is eager to travel internationally while still being productive for the company. We have a work-from-anywhere policy that existed before I joined, but it seems there are a few gaps we need to address. 😬 Here’s where it gets complicated: our policy didn’t account for important factors like: Tax Implications: Working from another country can create tax liabilities for both the employee and the organization that we hadn’t previously considered. Workers' Comp Coverage: My go-to resource, the PEO we work with for workers' comp, hasn’t been very helpful in confirming whether our employees are covered while they’re abroad. These pain points can definitely complicate things, especially for a small organization like ours. It raises questions about legal compliance and employee safety while traveling. Not to mention, it could affect employee morale if th...

Happy Digital Nomads Day! With the ongoing shift towards a more flexible workforce, business owners must understand the tax withholding requirements for remote workers. If your team is spread across Canada or internationally, making the correct payroll deductions and remittances is essential for proper tax preparation and compliance. Whether your employees are fully remote or follow a hybrid work schedule, the key is determining their province or territory of employment. ➡️ Fully Remote - In general, for remote employees who do not report to a physical location, their province or territory of employment is where the company's head office or payroll department is located. ➡️ Hybrid - For hybrid workers, their province or territory of employment is normally where they physically report to work, even if they only do so occasionally. Once you've established the employee's province or territory of employment, you can consult the applicable Payroll Deductions Tables for specific instructions on the withholding rules for income tax, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI). Can sponsored workers work remotely in the UK? New guidance clarifies the requirement for employers to carefully consider the work location of sponsored workers, and report those contracted to work from home to the Home Office. Employers do not need to report if a sponsored worker is moving to a hybrid working pattern, with some work time spent in the office and some from home, which suggests this could be the preferred location model for employers of sponsored workers. To find out what employers must do to ensure compliance, read this helpful article. https://lnkd.in/ga79gtrY #Immigration #RemoteWorking #SponsoredWorkers #SkilledWorkers #StoneKing
