One academic good news to share with everyone: My paper has been accepted for an oral presentation at the 2024 Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science meeting in Denver, Colorado, USA! The title of my paper is "An Efficient Computational Algorithm for Modeling Slow Soliton Interactions in Microresonators." This prestigious conference is scheduled for September 23–26, 2024. I am grateful for the support from my advisor, colleagues, and mentors. One of the most exciting aspects of attending this conference is connecting with like-minded individuals passionate about optics and laser science. 2024 has been an incredible year so far for the #VISIONLab team, culminating with some publications I am really proud of 😊 As I’ve been rather busy posting about my discovery activities with Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA), I have neglected to highlight some exciting new papers from the team. Over the month of August, as Gemma Bale and I are working hard to develop our ARIA programme solicitation (watch out in September), I’m going to put my University of Cambridge hat on for a bit and share some publication highlights from the team 😅 The first share comes from the incredible Janek Gröhl and a phenomenal pair of masters students, Kylie Yeung and Kevin Gu. They worked to overcome the typical inflexibility of data-driven methods trained on simulated data for estimating blood #oxygenation in #photoacoustic #imaging. By introducing a recurrent neural network architecture and evaluating a range of different simulated training datasets, they developed a framework to achieve robust oximetry in experimental data from living subjects. Providing quantitative molecular imaging information about blood content and oxygenation is one of the unique capabilities of #photoacoustic #imaging. The vEM event is just around the corner. But do you know what Volume Electron Microscopy (vEM) is and why it's a game-changer? Let’s dive in and explore its significance! vEM was recently highlighted as one of the "seven technologies to watch in 2023" by Nature Portfolio and for good reason. So, what is vEM? Volume Electron Microscopy (vEM) encompasses a range of techniques that use advanced electron microscopes to create a digital 3D representation of biological specimens. By slicing samples into ultra-thin sections and imaging them, #vEM reveals the hidden complexity of cellular and tissue structures that traditional microscopy methods can't capture. Why is vEM so important? 1. vEM uncovers the detailed organization of cellular components, from membranes and organelles to entire cells and tissues, offering unparalleled insights into biological processes. 2. It's transforming various research areas, including neuroscience, pathology, and developmental biology, enabling breakthroughs that were previously impossible. 3. With nanometer-scale resolution, vEM allows researchers to see the fine details necessary for understanding complex biological interactions and structures. Given the immense potential of vEM to drive innovation, Delmic is excited to participate in the upcoming vEM seminar in Beijing and contribute to its advancement. [COMMUNITY] 🌌 From exploring stars in the universe to capturing the organization of cells at #molecular resolution, Prophesee’s Metavision® enables never-before-possible levels of visibility and understanding of phenomena we cannot see. 🔬 Researchers at Institut Langevin - Ondes et images ESPCI Paris - PSL have leveraged the power of event-based vision to perform single-molecule localization #microscopy (#SMLM) that allows super-resolution fluorescence imaging beyond the diffraction limit. By harnessing our sensor's pixel-level precision, they exploit the asynchronous and dynamic behavior of SMLM #fluorophores that conventional framed-based cameras cannot capture. With the Eve-SMLM vision system, invaluable data can be extracted from individual molecule fluctuations, unlocking new insights at a microscopic level. 📊 Leveraging the capabilities of Metavision, they achieve: • Super resolution imaging – down to 25 nm spatial resolution • 10x faster acquisition – than with frame-based cameras • Reduced data volume 👁️🗨️ Event-based vision's high-speed, high-density, and frameless acquisition method allows researchers to discern transitions between overlapping fluorophores to extract vital information that reveals a new understanding of biological processes.
