🚨 Germany 2025: New Bio Ticket Rules could be a Boost for Biofuels 🚨 With the potential change in 2025 that could restrict the transfer of current bio tickets under the updated ETS2, Germany’s industries may need to shift strategies for immediate CO₂ reductions. This could result in increased reliance on high-impact biofuels, like HVO 100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil). HVO offers fast and cost-effective CO₂ reductions, making it an even more attractive alternative if bio tickets are unavailable. HVO is already in use across various sectors, offering a sustainable way to significantly lower emissions without extensive operational changes. Supporting biofuels like HVO could accelerate Germany’s path toward emissions targets, providing an easy adaptable, low-cost solution that aligns with long-term climate goals. 💬 "Methanol in shipping is currently in the early adopters phase. Although the current number of vessels capable of using methanol is limited, there is a noticeable increase in orders for dual-fuel methanol vessels, signalling a growing interest in this alternative." In a recent interview with ENGINE, Commercial Director Johannes Schurmann highlights some of the more pressing questions and challenges around sustainable biofuels for delivery. Have there been a lot of teething issues so far, where are we now, and what will a more GHG-regulated marine fuel future look like? → Read the full interview here › fuels.to/engine #SustainableBiofuels #GoodFuels #BetterWorld

Paola Rodriguez-Masiu, Head of Research and Trade Analytics, and Thomas Hoogsteden, biofuels trader at STX Group, recently discussed the growing interest in sustainable fuels in the marine market in a Bunkerspot article. With uncertainties around new regulations, there's a noticeable trend of bundling bunker supplies with EUAs, and bunker firms are increasingly eager to offer related services. While transitioning from inexpensive to more sustainable fuels poses a challenge, it's crucial for companies to start preparing for upcoming changes. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆! 🌲 As we celebrate today, 10th Aug, as the world biofuels day, I feel privileged to have been a part of developing and scaling successful low carbon fuels businesses globally! A very common question I get from my colleagues and friends working in other domains is around which feedstocks can be successfully converted to biofuels today? With the advent of sustainable technologies, not only liquid feedstocks like waste oils (used cooking oil, palm oil effluents etc.) but a variety of solid and gaseous wastes can be effectively converted to advanced and drop in biofuels If you too are intrigued by this question, I have prepared a ready reference slide for you below: #worldbiofuelsday #sustainability #lowcarbonfuels #advancedbiofuels
