Where do I start? Returning for my 2nd year interning at Chubb I was aware of the amazing experience I was about to embark on for the next 8 weeks. Instead of being nervous like I was 2 years ago I was eager to return and approach this opportunity with extreme diligence. I wanted to take advantage of everyday and learn as much as possible in these 8 weeks while also being patient and realizing the skill of underwriting isn't learned overnight and that everyday is a learning experience.
Two years ago I left Chubb being excited for my future and eager to learn more but I don't think I realized the opportunity I was being given by interning here at Chubb and coming into this year I didn't want to take it for granted. In the past 2 years in-between then and now. I have matured, I have a clearer view of what I want for my career, I have built upon the type of worker/person I want to be, and I have created goals and milestones for myself to work towards everyday. Some standards I set for myself returning was to make sure I was diligent with my work, responsive to everyone I crossed paths with, and be a sponge to all the information that was provided/available to me.
Here at Chubb I am surrounded by a team who just wants to help, wants me to ask all the questions, and wants me to succeed. I couldn't be more thankful to my team in Financial Institutions for really taking me in and helping me every step of the way.
As this week comes to an end and with that my internship I have a few key takeaways. 1.) It would be a honor to be invited back to work here at Chubb again as a CAP. The work environment and culture is something I don't think many companies can come close to. 2.) Underwriting is something that is extremely intriguing to me. It's a skill that requires you to almost learn something new everyday whether you've been doing it for 8 weeks or 8 years it is constantly changing and providing new situations. Which makes no one day the same as another. 3.) Being curious is a must in this business. As someone who typically learns by having something in front of them and just taking it head on. I benefit greatly from needing to do my own research, having conversations on any given topic, and knowing that I'm not gonna learn it all in one day so to give myself that grace and take it day by day with intent.
As I type away I realize I could talk endlessly about my gratitude and my overall experience here at Chubb. So I'll just end it by once again thanking my team and everyone I crossed paths with here at Chubb for being so helpful, kind, and welcoming. I really never felt once like I was being treated like a "Intern" and that makes me very thankful. I feel like I've learned so much not only about the industry but about myself and my standard.
Thank you Chubb and my team for an immeasurable experience and I hope to be back! Excited to finish out this week strong!
