I used to think the best way to grow a business was to perfect the art of the sales pitch. You know, the elevator pitch, the cold call, the demo, and all the usual. But after years of watching startups struggle to break through the noise, I realized something: People are tired of being sold to. Today's customers are smarter. They're bombarded with ads, emails, and social media posts all vying for their attention. They've built up defenses against the hard sell. But here's the secret: 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲. That's why 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. I thought my sales funnel was fine. Then I looked at the numbers—and panicked. A few months ago, I realized my sales funnel was a disaster. Leads were coming in, but they weren’t converting. Frustration? That was an understatement. I knew something had to change. That’s when I decided to experiment with educational email courses. • The first step was understanding my audience’s pain points. • The second was diving deep into the art of creating educational email courses. I researched successful examples, studied the psychology behind engagement, and learned how to craft content that educates while subtly guiding the reader towards a solution. I crafted a free, 5-day email course addressing one specific problem they were struggling with. The goal? To offer real value without expecting anything in return. Each email was short, actionable, and ended with a hook. I wanted them eagerly awaiting the next one, not because of a glamorous pitch, but because of the genuine help I was providing. By the end of the course, something remarkable happened. Leads who had ghosted me before were suddenly responding, engaging, and even asking for more information about my products. The sales pitch? It was so subtle, they didn’t even realize they were being sold to. It just felt like the natural next step. This experience taught me that the secret to a successful sales funnel isn’t in the hard sell. It’s in the value you provide and the trust you build along the way. When you lead with value through educational email courses, conversions happen naturally. My conversion rate doubled, and my clients now trust that I’m in their corner. I recently shared how after analyzing over 1 million website visitors, we found that only 25% fit our client’s Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) But even when our clients focused on ICP-matched leads, they struggled to get the most return on their marketing investment Why? The path to securing recurrent clients is more straightforward than you think. As a B2B tech entrepreneur, business growth can be daunting. Here's my underrated advice for breaking down complex marketing funnels into 3 simple steps: 1. Make your presence known (aka demand generation). This could be posting on LinkedIn, pitching at industry events, running paid ads, or reaching out to strangers via email, etc. 2. Next, direct potential clients to a *simple* landing page detailing your offer and allowing them to leave contact information (aka lead generation). 3. Finally, engage with those "leads" on a more personal level (aka lead nurturing). This could be through LinkedIn DMs, email, product demos, free trials, or even drip campaigns to pitch your tailored solution, ask questions, and gather feedback. In the first 3-6 months, concentrate on just ONE channel per step to test what works best for your business.
