Breakfast catch ups with Mervyn Lyn. Beyond being an actual OG, Mervyn is one of the realist most humble human beings I’ve ever met (if you know you know). I can’t even begin to explain what he’s done in his lifetime, but beyond being a friend he’s an advisor across much of what I do, including The Black Network. He has proffesionally and personally done a lot for Black culture and Black people across the board and our conversations are around advising across how the work we’re doing through The Black Network not only impacts the Black community but also transforms the wider industry. As much as Mervyn really don’t need an introduction, there are a lot of industry people/leaders in my universe that might not know who Mervyn is. In many industry’s it is still very insertions and people only known who they know or what they’re ’comfortable with’, this is the importance of The Black Network and is why Black Out is needed Applications close tonight - link (https://lnkd.in/emG-ZBQR) Partner - [email protected] #BlackOut2024 / #CannesLions / #TheBlackNetwork

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵: 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 Today, we join in commemorating Juneteenth, a day of profound historical significance marking the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the news of emancipation finally reached Galveston, Texas, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This day stands as a powerful reminder of the struggle for freedom and the ongoing fight for equality and justice. At Business Minds, we honor the resilience and achievements of Black entrepreneurs and communities. We recognize that the journey towards true equity and inclusion is ongoing, and we are committed to fostering a diverse and supportive environment for all entrepreneurs. Don't only love the outcome of what Black culture garners. But love the people who create and cultivate it. Because they're the blueprint. I read somewhere that Black creatives and entrepreneurs are going to start gatekeeping their talents, ideas, and skills. This world would never survive that kind of disruption, so for the rest of you, stop the ashy elbow and ashy knee behavior and invite moisture into your company. 👉🏽Start hiring Black creatives. 👉🏽Start paying Black entrepreneurs. 👉🏽Stop colonizing Black people’s ideas and creations. 👉🏽Start normalizing equity in the workplace. You’re welcome. Now, go hire a Black woman. #HireBlackWomen #influencer #contentcreator #DEI #socialmedia

I was so scared on that stage but did you notice? I was unapologetic and I said what everyone was thinking. A year from now, here I am telling you if you have the vision, the drive, the tenacity, you can do it too. But I need to remind you what BLACK RISE is not: We are not A community - We are a business platform, a facilitator of opportunities for Black talent, Black-owned brands and Black-focused organisation We are not A DEI initiative - We are building a unicorn business with global opportunities for Black talent and beyond We are not A segretration - Yes we spotlight Black talent but we want the rest of the world to see how great we are. We are not A charity – While we provide equity solutions, we a business with a clear objective of sustainable growth, investment, and value creation. We are not LinkedIn - While we facilitate professional connections like LinkedIn. We offer a tailored experience that goes deeper into solving specific challenges Black professionals face, providing not just connections but also actionable opportunities for growth, business deals, and strategic support. Black men, our existence is one of purpose, and to help other Black men value their existence begins with appreciating the value of our own lives. Our existence carries profound purpose and significance, rooted in our resilience, heritage, and contributions to society. By recognizing and embracing our inherent worth and potential, we not only honor the legacy of those who came before us but also inspire future generations to value their existence. When we prioritize uplifting and supporting our fellow Black men, we reinforce the interconnectedness of our experiences and amplify the collective strength of our community. By fostering a culture of mutual respect and appreciation, we create a ripple effect of empowerment that extends far beyond ourselves, enriching the lives of those around us and contributing to the advancement of our community as a whole. Moreover, by helping other Black men recognize the value of their existence, we cultivate a sense of solidarity and unity that transcends individual differences and challenges. When we affirm the worth and potential of our brothers, we foster a sense of belonging and empowerment that fuels collective progress and resilience. Each act of support and encouragement serves as a reminder that we are not alone in our journey and that our struggles and triumphs are shared experiences within the Black community. By lifting each other up and celebrating the richness and diversity of our experiences, we create a culture of inclusivity and empowerment that honors the unique contributions and value of every Black man's existence. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Perspective #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

The challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs and vendors in accessing opportunities to scale their businesses are indeed significant. Systemic barriers have historically limited access for many Black-owned businesses, impacting their growth and sustainability. The events surrounding George Floyd's death sparked a wave of corporate pledges towards diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), but the effectiveness and follow-through on these promises have been widely scrutinized. The pullback on DEI initiatives in some areas further complicates the landscape, signaling that the path towards greater equity in the business environment remains fraught with resistance. However, this moment also presents an opportunity for those committed to change to make a substantive impact. For businesses and individuals who truly believe in equality and inclusion, there is a pressing need to act decisively. Supporting Black businesses, creating inclusive economic policies, and fostering environments where diverse entrepreneurs can thrive are critical steps towards this goal. Change often starts with those who have the vision and commitment to challenge the status quo and create new pathways for access and opportunity. #blackat #election24

Exciting News! 💥 I’m incredibly excited to announce the signing of a term sheet with John E. Harmon, Sr., IOM to bring black business to Unblinded and support black entrepreneurs around the world. This is a monumental step toward creating more opportunities and driving real change. We talk a lot about the division in our nation—how human beings are naturally tribal, and how differences like skin color, religion, and political affiliations create separation. But here’s the truth: politicians won’t solve these problems. It’s private individuals and organizations who will lead the way, working together to bridge those divides and uplift one another. This partnership is a powerful example of what’s possible when we come together with a shared mission. #Unblinded #Entrepreneurship #BlackBusiness #IntegrousInfluence #UnityThroughAction #PersonalGrowth Tanya L.
