We want to evolve what an annual futures gathering can be. We want to build on our Collaborative Foresight approach. We want to better understand what folks who take part in The Conference need. We need to look at the long arc of hosting a gathering in our brilliant and rapidly-changing city, Malmö. And we want to be courageous in pausing and reflecting, and owning the ambiguity of not knowing, together. We are taking a pause – The Pause – to actively sense, test and participate in gatherings to understand how we want to gather in professional contexts and how we build agency, confidence and capacity to shape the futures we want to see.
