Last week, the Nemzetgazdasági Minisztérium (NGM) and the Neumann Technológiai Platform (NTP) jointly organized a thought-provoking conference titled “Space Industry Development and Competitiveness: Financing and International Market Overview.” 🌌 Distinguished speakers shed light on crucial aspects of the space industry, exploring funding opportunities and global competitiveness. Here are the key takeaways: Horizon Europe: The program’s three pillars—Innovative Europe, Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, and European Innovation Council—were discussed. Notably, calls for proposals related to space technologies were highlighted, emphasizing areas like reducing dependence on critical technologies and developing responsive space systems. Digital Europe: The program’s mission to accelerate the digital transformation of the European economy and society was underscored. The role of the National Contact Point (NCP) for Digital Europe, represented by the Neumann János Nonprofit Közhasznú Kft., was emphasized. European Defence Fund: This fund supports collaborative research and development projects in defense technologies, including space. Topics such as satellite imagery analysis, secure waveforms for satellite communication, and space-based early warning of missiles were discussed. Kudos to the organizers for fostering dialogue and collaboration in the dynamic field of space exploration! Sky is not the limit—it’s just the beginning!

I am glad to have contributed to the scientific screening literature campaign powered by the European Space Agency - ESA through the Systematic Threat Analysis of Radiation From Space (STARS) project. An increasing amount of evidence highlights how space radiations alter the central nervous system (CNS) from both a structural and functional point of view. Understanding deeply such mechanisms is crucial for the development of specific countermeasures in preparation for future long-term space missions.
