This is the biggest mystery: We know what to do, but we don't do it. 🤝 Eating healthy food. 🤝 Meditation. 🤝 Exercise. Why? Because the default feels good. 🛑 Junk food. 🛑 Doom Scrolling. 🛑 Binge watching TV. All these are: 😇 Comforting 😇 Familiar 😇 Easy “Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life” - Jerzy Gregorek. I’ll go first. I love a warm bath. But I’m experimenting with a cold bath. Why? Because it's linked to: 🤝 Better immunity. 🤝 Improved circulation. 🤝 Increased metabolism. Today, pick something EASY. And stop doing it. Instead, start doing the opposite. It will be hard. It will suck. But it will be beautiful 😊 I promise. 🗞 Subscribe to my newsletter, The Saturday Cha. Link is in my Bio. Embarking on the journey to take control of your cravings is an act of self-empowerment. It's about more than just resisting tempting treats; it's a commitment to understanding the signals your body sends and responding with compassion and curiosity. It's a conscious decision to break free from the cycle of guilt and shame, allowing yourself to savor life's moments without being dictated by food. By choosing to explore the roots of your cravings, you pave the way for lasting change and a newfound sense of control over your relationship with food. The journey is not about what you eat, but how you nourish your body, mind, and spirit, leading to a more harmonious and empowered life. Want to find out more on how you can better understand your cravings so you can finally reduce them and feel in control around food then I invite you to join me and my colleague Danielle Emmons, Registered Dietitian for our FREE Virtual Workshop: Craving Freedom on June 4th at 11:30 am PST, 2:30 pm EST! The calendar flipped to December this past week and celebration is all around us. Whatever light-filled event you may be celebrating special food is likely on the menu. Despite the joy of the season, food can be tricky for many of us. Let’s find a few things we can do to bring back the joy and dismiss the distress! Adding in is an idea that tries to generate positivity in health behaviours. For instance, adding in an evening walk to see the holiday lights lands differently than cutting out dessert at holiday gatherings. Focussing on finding joyful ways to move can help us eat the foods we need and want while also taking care of our health. Long gone are the days where we “work off our calories” as a swap for a treat food. And we also know that movement is helpful in regulating our blood sugar. It can offer great stress relief for our minds and movement can even help us connect to our community for a chance to socialize. Lately there have been several ideas for adding in movement that have been inspiring. Here are a few! • Taking a walk to take pictures of the snow-covered branches. • Walking up an extra flight of stairs at Hope House. We have plenty of stairs! • Parking a little further from your destination and walking a little further. May you find ways to add in joy in December by finding ways to add in movement! #HopeHouseGuelph #Food4Thought #GuelphCares #GuelphFood

I will admit it. I have a competitive spirit. Former mountain bike racer, FBI Chief of Staff for Counterintelligence... even when it comes to Scrabble... I love to win. So when my Girl Boss ladies networking group added an ugly Christmas sweater contest to our holiday gathering, I knew that I stood a chance. My entry? My Mom's vintage sweater from back in the 90s. That woman was the OG of ugly Christmas sweaters, and this thing is legendary. I pull it out every Christmas, not just to win contests, but because it reminds me of her and her over-the-top holiday spirit. Walking into the luncheon, I sized up the competition. Oh, I’ve got this. But then... she walked in. It wasn’t just an ugly sweater. It was a full-blown ugly Christmas extravaganza. She had the perfect ugly sweater and this snowman hat with this giant carrot nose. You couldn’t look away. The whole room lit up with her energy. It was ugly Christmas perfection. And in that moment, everything shifted for me. I realized I didn’t need or even want to win. Not because I wasn’t deserving, but because sometimes, you just know someone else deserves it more. Her outfit was legitimately better. The ladies voted, and she won by a landslide. I couldn’t have been more thrilled to take second place... proudly rocking the second ugliest sweater in the room. And it got me thinking... How many times have we been in situations where we feel like we’re competing... not just with others, but with ourselves? Especially when it comes to weight loss and health goals, it’s easy to fall into the mindset of needing to "win" at dieting. But here’s the thing... what if the game itself is rigged? Diets are like ugly sweaters. They're flashy, they grab attention, but they don’t really work for what you need long-term. And when the new year rolls around, we end up pulling out the same old tactics, hoping this time will be different. That’s why I created my brand-new training (and the last one of the year), Stop Emotional Eating Before the New Year. If you’ve been struggling with emotional eating and the endless cycle of starting over every January, this is your chance to break free. We’ll dive into why 92% of diets fail, how emotional eating sneaks in and sabotages your progress, and what you can do instead to finally create lasting change. Surviving the Morning After: How to Beat That Migraine and Crush Your Day Hey there, champ! Ever find yourself in Dunkin' first thing in the morning (a two hour wait on Cape Cod), clutching your head in agony, not from the epic party last night, but from a brutal migraine? Yeah, I’ve been there too. Those morning migraine can hit harder than last night’s cocktails, turning your coffee into a lifeline rather than a luxury. I remember those days all too well. Coffee was my go-to quick fix, a desperate attempt to soothe the pounding in my head. But let's be real, there had to be more to it than just a caffeine jolt. I felt trapped by relentless migraine, and mornings were my worst nightmare. Sound familiar? Here’s the good news: there’s a way out. Let’s talk about real, preventative measures that go beyond the coffee cup. For instance, did you know that munching on a handful of French fries the night before can actually help? Weird, but true. The sodium can help balance your body’s fluids. But even with these tricks, migraine can still sneak up on you. That’s where I come in with strategies to minimize and mitigate the migraine time suck. Picture this: waking up and feeling light, free, and ready to crush your day especially summer living... That’s my reality now, and I can see the stark difference in those still battling their morning #migraine. I want you to feel this awesome too – to wake up without dread and to face your day head-on. Ready to break free from the morning migraine cycle? Let’s get you on the path to pain-free mornings. Book a consultation call with me today and let’s make your migraine a thing of the past.
