How I live longer by eating out more. I stick to the same idea. Here's how I make up my restaurant or food court meals. 1/2 of the plate= Plant food Think → • veggies • salad 1/4 of the plate= Healthy protein food Think → • tofu • fish, • chicken 1/8 of the plate = healthy oils Think → • olive oil • avocado • nuts/seeds 1/8 of the plate = healthy carbs Think → • quinoa • brown rice • pasta made from legumes or whole-wheat pasta That's all I do I mix it up to keep meals fresh. Meal 1: Stir-fried veggies, chicken, nuts, brown rice ( or equivalent) Meal 2: Salad, tofu, nuts, olive oil chickpeas.( food court salad bar) Meal 3: Fish, guacamole, beans with chili sauce, quinoa ( Mexican - you guessed it) Meal 4 : fish with sauce on side, salad, olive oil on the salad, healthy carb if available Same approach, but every meal is different! That’s how I turn a negative ( restaurant, food court, airplane food ) into a positive. And you can too! PS If I can't get it perfect I skip it eg no unprocessed carb, I'll skip the carb ... How I solved my problem of unhealthy eating in the city ... When I started working in the city, I thought "' Ïf I keep eating like this Ill be in an early grave'' Lunches are often the unhealthiest meal in a day for professionals at work. People generally eat • Sushis • Sandwiches • Rolls eg Vietnamese pork rolls • Asian dishes mainly with rice and meat So what's the problem?? • Carb, carbs and more carbs • Carbs that are low quality ( think white not brown in color) • Carbs that are high quantity The solution ? Eat each meal ideally as per attached pic- →50% coloured plant food →25 % healthy protein and →25% high quality carb ( wholegrain carbs or brown rice etc) or 12.5 % carb./12.5 % healthy oil eg nuts seeds - you get what I mean .... How much plant food ? • 50% multicoloured plant food ie salad/veggies-not 50% white carbs • Again ...... 50% multicoloured plant food • Finally till it sinks in.......50% multicoloured plant food Impossible with sushi , sandwiches & most take away foods Catered board-room lunches are often a trainwreck! Sometime I wonder if someone is trying to kill the board members with fat laden club sandwiches etc !!!! My solutions ? →Bring your lunch from home – most evening meals are healthy →Buy • a bag of salad and • smoked salmon / tinned tuna from Coles and eat this at work – keep olive oil in staff kitchen, add nuts and seeds →Go for a salad bar eg Fishbowl , soulfood and cabbage as base not the rice, lots if white meat protein to keep you full →Your body will thank you in the future Like a small increase in compound interest for your savings account , you won't notice it in the short term but boy you will in the long term What solutions have you found? There's wisdom in the group ....
