Part 1, Why can't Singapore lead healthcare innovations compared to the USA? Why do we always have to follow the USA's guidance? I was delivering a lecture at National University of Singapore, and someone in the audience asked me these two questions. I always believe that we have "innovated" very well at a population level, to the point where we have one of the best life expectancies in the world. Yet, we are still forced to follow a system that is clearly not doing as well. I think we Singaporeans have done an amazing job bringing the country to this point but are somewhat afraid to lead on the global stage because we think the "West" is always better. If you look at the "West," most of the leading work is done by Asians, and those Asians had to go to the West to get recognition. I think it's time we own our success and start leading initiatives ourselves. It's a complicated process, but I believe we can do it. What do you think? Just as in any successful relationship, thriving partnerships depend on clear communication, mutual trust, and a shared vision for the future. That's why I gathered over lunch today, with team AEIS to discuss, exchange best practices, and brainstorm ideas for enhancing the upcoming Future Mobility Asia 2025 edition. For those companies who are keen to consider participation, Future Mobility Asia served as a platform for Singaporean companies to demonstrate their capabilities, forge international partnerships, and explore opportunities for collaboration. The pavilion attracted a diverse audience, offering insights into Singapore's dynamic ecosystem and its contributions to the global landscape. Through interactive exhibits, engaging presentations, and networking sessions, the Singapore Pavilion at #FutureMobilityAsia highlighted our commitment to driving progress and shaping the future of mobility in Asia and beyond. Join us, together with AEIS and more than 400 exhibitors from 7-9 May in Bangkok, Thailand at Future Mobility Asia Exhibition & Summit 2025 as we continue to shape the clean mobility transition, leading Asia on this journey through the opportunities of Asia - driving economic prosperity, enhancing energy security, and ensuring sustainable development for all. Together, we can transform our mobility systems, create groundbreaking business opportunities, and provide affordable energy access to millions, setting a global benchmark for mobility innovation. If you're interested in a partnership discussion with Singapore Pavilion participation, please message Henry Chua . My recent trip to Hakone resonated deeply with the Japanese concept of mono no aware, the bittersweet beauty of impermanence. As a registered pharmacist with a keen interest in business development and strategy, I'm constantly reflecting on ways to improve healthcare delivery. Mono no aware (物の哀れ) reminds me that progress is a journey, not a destination. Just as the majestic Mount Fuji, forever associated with resilience, endures the changing seasons, our healthcare system must adapt to meet evolving needs. New technologies and treatment options emerge, while established practices are continuously refined. Embracing mono no aware allows us to celebrate these advancements while acknowledging the ongoing challenges, finding meaning and purpose in the small victories along the way. Singapore's healthcare system is a shining example of constant adaptation. Our public-private partnership model has fostered innovation, while our focus on preventive care has yielded impressive health outcomes. Yet, challenges remain. An ageing population and rising chronic diseases demand new approaches. Just as the cedar trees on Lake Ashi weathered countless seasons, our healthcare system must be adaptable. Telemedicine and digital health tools hold promise in improving access to care, especially for geographically isolated communities. Additionally, harnessing data analytics can help us identify and address emerging health threats proactively. The bare cherry blossom trees standing tall with the sunset in the back at 宮城野早川堤の桜 served as a reminder that even in decline, there's beauty and resilience. Similarly, Singapore's healthcare system, while boasting world-class facilities and a skilled workforce, faces limitations. Accepting these limitations allows us to focus on continuous improvement. Investing in preventative care and early detection programs can help us manage chronic diseases more effectively. Finally, the geothermal energy that nourishes Owakudani's hot springs is a metaphor for the interconnectedness of our healthcare ecosystem. Just like the hot springs, a healthy healthcare system relies on a strong foundation – a skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and ongoing research and development. Here in Singapore, public-private partnerships play a crucial role in fostering innovation and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our healthcare system. Perhaps you've encountered mono no aware (物の哀れ) in your own field – share your own experiences in the comments below! #healthcare #digitalhealth #innovation #singapore #japan #mononoaware #物の哀れ #impermanence #pharmacist #strategy #reflection #growth #lifelonglearning #relfection #japanesephilosophy #mindfulness #travel #inspiration #culture #preventive #telemedicine #agingpopulation

Although I won't be able to attend, I believe that Fatima Almubbad's presentation is worth listening to. The Middle East has shown robust growth in areas such as fintech, e-commerce, and smart city initiatives. Governments across the region are prioritizing digital transformation as a core component of their economic strategies, which opens up unprecedented opportunities for businesses worldwide. For companies looking to expand their digital footprint, the Middle Eastern market offers a unique blend of challenges and opportunities. The region's diverse consumer base is eager for innovative digital solutions that cater to their cultural and practical needs. Additionally, the local startup ecosystem is vibrant and growing, supported by an influx of venture capital and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Collaboration is key to success in this dynamic market. Partnering with local businesses can provide valuable insights into the regional nuances and help tailor digital solutions that resonate with local consumers. Moreover, such collaborations can pave the way for sustainable growth and mutual benefits. #tech #SME #SEA #MIDDLEEAST
