【The Three-Generation of Kapon Dynasty - Acker MERRALL & CONDIT】 John Kapon, the third-generation head of the Kapon family, is synonymous with fine wine auctions. He is the driving force behind Acker Merrall & Condit, the world's largest fine wine auction house. Despite its relatively young history, Acker has quickly become a global wine powerhouse. Under John Kapon's leadership, Acker Merrall & Condit has consistently topped the revenue rankings of wine auction houses as the world's largest auction house for rare and fine wines. In 2011, Acker became the first wine auction house, with all its subsidiaries generating over $100 million in revenue, setting hundreds of world records for wine sales. It even crossed the $1 billion mark in auction revenue in 2018. During the global pandemic, John Kapon kept the wine flowing. He embraced virtual platforms like Zoom, hosting captivating tasting events that brought wine lovers together from across the globe. Acker's success isn't just about the wine; it's about the people. It built a loyal community of wine enthusiasts who trust them implicitly. Three generations of Kapons blended their passion for wine, heart and souls with sharp business, cementing their position as industry leaders. An ancient Chinese proverb “wealth does not pass three generations” doesn’t work in this case. Looking forward, how will the Kapon family handle the handover to the next generation? And how will they continue the family's legendary saga? Source: Acker 保罗沙利文. (2020). 我不想关门:企业寻找生存之道. 家族企业. (60), 16-17. Photo Source: Decanter #CUHK #CUHKCFB #FamilyBusiness #FamilyOffice #ACKER

ONTARIO’S MOST CELEBRATED AND CONSISTENT WINERIES In 1970’s there were fewer than 20 wineries in Ontario, and even fewer wines worth drinking. What changed between then and now is the climate and collective drive to produce world-standard wines. That started with Inniskillin and a lot of help by wine - writers who wrote about this remarkable effort by Donald Ziraldo, and Karl Kaiser. Now there are 180 wineries and some of are producing world-class wines winning credible awards in London, and elsewhere in the world. A few wineries export now substantial quantities to Pacific Rim countries and England. Here is a selection of wineries that produce wines worth buying and enjoying. Hidden Bench Estate Winery Closson Chase Vineyards Tawse Winery Le Clos Jordanne Thomas Bachelder Calamus Estate Winery Featherstone Estate Winery Flat Rock Cellars Domaine Queylus Kew Vineyards Bella Terra Vineyards 13th Street Winery Chateau des Charmes Reif All are relatively close to Toronto and can be reached in two or three hours by car. It is best to visit them, taste their wines and buy those that “speak” to you. They sell online too, but the preferred method is to taste and then buy.

Why Domaine Evremond is about to be your new favourite English sparkling wine As the vineyards mature and the winery finds its rhythm, one can only imagine how future vintages will unfold. Although nearly seven and a half years have passed since the first vines were planted on an unseasonably cool day by the likes of your correspondent, the actual wines, born of friendship and ambition, are just beginning their journey. #FineWine #LuxuryWines #WineConnoisseur https://lnkd.in/eXErsDYS

Dynamis Estate Wines | North Carolina 2024 🍇 https://lnkd.in/eW6x2C3r There is a story behind every brand. Here is ours. Dynamis is defined as the potential to obtain limitless power. We symbolize our winemaking journey with the Greek delta. In mathematics the delta has the ability to change the value of any variable. In the same way, a combination of people, place and time can overcome any obstacle in the pursuit of perfection. Our wine represents the path to create Dynamis. Our mission at Dynamis Estate Wines is to achieve premium-quality without compromise. This philosophy drives every decision we make—from vineyard to winery to tasting lodge and everywhere in between. We hand-harvest fruit during the cool cover of darkness and pick grapes into small harvest bins to maintain fruit integrity. Careful cluster and berry sorting ensure fruit quality. Gentle destemming and fruit movement in our fermentation tanks, with an elegant selection of glassware and closures, creates a memorable tasting experience that leaves you wanting more. We handcraft our wines in small lots with the pinnacle of quality in mind and monitor every drop with surgical precision creating a time capsule in a bottle to enjoy for years to come, one vintage after another.

Key points from this article. 1. Champagne can loose 8,2% in volume ans STILL increase value. Incredible. 2. Cremant is making up for many of these "lost bottles" and positioning itself as the main "sexy alternative to Champagne" with 5,7% growth in 2023. My oberservations 1. The fact that there is one word (Cremant) to cover so many French regions is incredibly smart and useful to all of them. In this sense, I wish the Italian denomination Talento had stuck. 2. Cremant comes from many very different climates and made with many different varietals. This means Cremants have an incredible diversity- I think this could end up being a problem. In this sense, I'm glad the Italian Talento denomination doesn't exist anymore. 3. Given the very real problem of climate change on sparkling wine vineyards across the world, Trentodoc's mountain vineyards continue to have major advantages that many Cremant regions don't have. 4. Cremant's continued growth and problems dealing with a warming climate, means Trentodoc continues to be one of the most interesting sparkling wine denominations in the world. #trentodoc #sparklingwine #champagne #cremant #meininger https://lnkd.in/d8GHvX3T
