Have you ever participated in a donation drive or program that felt entirely impersonal? 🫧 (How many times have you purchased travel-size shampoo bottles… and had no idea which organization they were actually going towards)?  🫧 ^These initiatives aren’t necessarily bad. But when organizations fail to create an experience to engage those willing to help, it can create a significant disconnect. 🙃 The University of San Diego’s partnership with Monarch School is a great example of what it looks like to engage the community with an initiative that aligns with its values. And Mission Edge’s Corporate Social Responsibility program spent a year helping them do so. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that “giving” is all about the difference we can make in someone’s life – and sometimes, it’s even the smallest act of kindness or support that becomes the push someone needs to keep going or the lifeline they need to survive. As Giving Tuesday represents a critical period for fundraising for many nonprofits, whatever we do for others today is more than special – it’s meaningful, impactful, and exactly what the world needs right now. Let’s rethink what it means to give. Our time, skills, resources, or even a thoughtful gesture can work wonders for someone in need. #GivingTuesday

To continue engaging #GivingTuesday givers, how about an in-person gathering? People who engage in person give more and more often than those who just click or watch. So what about stewarding your Giving Tuesday donors with an in-person experience? A tour of your space, a chance to break bread with recipients of their generosity, a roundtable with 10 other donors and the VP or ED about the cause. Nothing fancy or time consuming, just something to create a little community among those who gave on this special day, and showcase the organization in a way maybe they haven’t seen before. Even better and more efficient: align the activity with an existing tactic but send a special invitation just to Giving Tuesday donors. #givingtuesday  #eventstrategy #fundraising
