Recently, I shared some exciting news about accepting a position that was, by all lights, a significant promotion. It was an incredible opportunity, and I was truly honored to be considered for such a leadership role. However, after some deep reflection, I realized that the position wasn’t the right fit for me at this point in my journey. Sometimes, we find ourselves on a path that seems like the “logical” next step—one that aligns with our external definitions of success. But what I’ve learned is that progress isn’t always linear. True growth often requires us to take a step back, reassess, and make decisions that align with our core values and well-being. So, I made the decision to step back from the new role and return to what I’m most passionate about: teaching, innovation in writing instruction, and contributing to the university through meaningful service. As an Associate Teaching Professor at ASU’s Writers’ Studio, I’ll continue to explore the exciting intersection of AI and education, and I will also focus on serving our academic community through my work as a Faculty Senator and in my other service roles. Progress should be seen as holistic—an ongoing process that includes recognizing when it’s time to pivot, refocus, and prioritize what truly matters. For me, that means dedicating my energy to the work that fulfills me and supports my well-being. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this journey. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and eager to continue making a difference in higher education, both in and out of the classroom. Thank you for your interest in Rehan School, my name is Rehan Allahwala, and I have been an entrepreneur most of my life, I have done over 150 businesses in 7 plus countries and failed in most of them, thus I claim to have a Ph.D. in failure. 

What I have learned is to keep trying and not be afraid of failure. Today humanity knows how to create Doctors, Engineers, Swimmers, and Cricketers, but we do not know how to create world-class leaders who bring change like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Edison, and Obama.
The most important work in the world, we leave it to CHANCE and we do not have a process to create the next Steve jobs. 
 We choose not to give a car to someone without training and license, we train people for years to become an accountant, a lawyer, and a doctor, but for a world leader, we leave it to chance, so NO MORE. I think there must be a way to make this happen, and we should not leave it to Chance or ACCIDENT for it to happen, and I Have set out to find, create, and implement a process so we can create a system that can help us MAKE the next Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. This is what this School is made for, It is an experimental school that will keep trying to make and find ways to create amazing future leaders in the world, who can fix the things that are broken around us that need desperate fixing. The world has amazing tools today like the Internet, AI, Computers, VR, and Mobiles, and the education system is slow to adopt these changes, We at Rehan School aim to use all these tools, use the First principal method, and re-engineer the education system. I aim to educate and create 1000 future leaders from my school, under my direct supervision, so that these students and future leaders can go out there, and make a better world for everyone, I am to create a Nobel laureate, Guinness World record holders, and multi-millionaires, who will be trained in doing so. If you think you want your child to become the next future leader in business and in the world of issues who will impact 10 million + Human beings positively, this is the school for you, but if you want a regular Joe with good numbers this is not the school for your child. As you sit on the train or close your eyes for a second, let yourself say: 'You did well today, and you deserve to rest. Thank you for getting through today.' This habit has transformed my friends’ lives, making them feel visibly happier. They've shared how much they appreciate this moment of self-gratitude. Why not give it a try? Today marks a milestone for me– my 55th birthday. And today as I'm thinking about it, I'm embracing where life has brought me. The storms I've weathered have shaped me, and I look forward to the future with optimism. Through the years, I've learned invaluable lessons: 1. Resilience is key. Every challenge has been an opportunity for growth. 2. Authenticity matters. Being true to oneself leads to genuine connections. 3. Gratitude transforms perspective. Appreciating life's small joys creates lasting happiness. 4. Continuous learning keeps us young at heart. 5. Integrity is non-negotiable. It's the foundation of trust and success in all aspects of life. These insights have profoundly impacted both my personal and professional life. In the spirit of transparency and authenticity, I feel compelled to share something that’s been on my mind. I’ve often felt like a square peg in a round hole. I see a lot of noise, self-promotion, and buzzwords flying around, and sometimes, it’s hard to see where I fit into all of that. But here’s the thing - I’ve realized that it’s okay to be different. It’s okay to not fit the mold. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about fitting in, it’s about standing out. I’m not here to play the game. I’m not here to collect endorsements or to add a laundry list of skills to my profile. I’m here to do what I do best, to learn, to grow, and to make a difference in my own unique way. And the funny thing is, despite feeling like I don’t belong, I’ve found that there are people who value what I bring to the table. People who appreciate authenticity, hard work, and talent over buzzwords and jargon. And to those people, I say thank you. So here’s to being different. Here’s to standing out. Here’s to not fitting the mold. Because the world doesn’t need more of the same. It needs more individuals who are willing to be themselves and to make a difference in their own unique way.

I was honored last Thursday to present at Mukwonago High School's Muk Ready day about the career opportunities in University Advancement! Not only was it great to share what I do, but it was also so fun to return to the high school I graduated from nearly 10 years ago! It is so easy to forget about all of the positions that help make a university run -- it's so much more than just professors! I truly didn't know just how impactful University Advancement work was or even the full scope of its duties until starting my position with Marquette University. My road was unlike many others to get to where I am today. I thought for sure I had everything figured out after high school - I knew the major I was going into college with and the career I was striving for after graduation. However, the thing that held me back was my own stubbornness. When I started to think about switching gears, when I started to question if I still wanted the same career I thought I did when entering college, I didn't explore those gut feelings but rather stayed in my lane and shut myself off to opportunities outside of my major. Now, I have a Bachelor's and the majority of a Masters in an area of study I no longer plan to build my professional career on. Fast-forward to today, I am so GRATEFUL to explore something new and cannot tell you how much I LOVE my current position with Marquette. If I left those future young professionals with anything after my presentation, I hope it was this: take the time to get to know yourself -- REALLY get to know yourself. Pivot when needed. Zack: You wear your heart on your sleeve, showing genuine kindness and care to everyone around you. Zoe: The closest to Wonder Woman—strong, intelligent, and fearless in speaking your mind.
