⚖ The recent judgment by the Constitutional Court marks a significant step forward in the effective use of national resources and balancing fair competition in the telecommunications market in Latvia. This landmark decision addresses the previously absolute prohibition on transferring frequencies acquired without an auction, a regulation that has long been a point of contention. ☝ For BITE Latvija it means that now it is possible to leverage the frequency resources more efficiently, without being hampered by the outdated restrictions. 🚀 With the prohibition set to be removed from the law as of January 1, 2025, BITE Latvija is poised to enhance its strategic initiatives, particularly in developing and expanding our 5G network. In my recent interview with the Economic Daily News, I shared my suggestions to the recent proposals made by Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission on amending the M&A regulations for financial holdings. Specifically, I propose a more flexible regime that permits the financial regulator to approve the M&A on a case-by-case basis and avoids rigid regulation on the threshold and consideration for hostile takeovers.
