Can a formal third political party in Congress create a more diverse pool of Presidential candidates in America? If so, how would we bring this into being? What would be the pros and cons of tampering with a system that has been in place for so many years? Should the indigenous citizens of America start a major political party to stake claim on their original ownership of this country? 

#RESPONSIBLE #LEADERSHIP & Rep Liz CHENEY's 2023 book “Oath and Honor- A Memoir and a Warning” #Oath #honour In two presentations last week former #USA #Congresswoman Cheney raised the essential aspects of the #integrity of elected officials and their oath to uphold the Constitution of the USA, as follows: On January 5th 2024, she presented: “An Oath to Defend Democracy with former Congresswoman Liz Cheney” (Democracy Summit @ Darmouth Political Union 5th January, 2024). Including identifying the “challenge we face now …. is ….<Trump’s> refusal to enforce the rulings of the courts,… there is no way to overstate how destructive that will be .. what an existential threat that is…” #exploringthedepthofanidea She stressed the importance of: " The notion that service to the country is noble, .... the only thing that can influence events ... is your determination and dedication to service, your dedication to the constitution, your dedication to running for office, ... to making sure that you vote for people, regardless of party, that you believe in and can trust and who are going to be serious about their obligations. Those are the things that really matter. And, those of us who have been around some time, can tell you that what's happening now in our country is dangerous and it's not the norm. It's not how our politics should work and we all have a duty and an obligation to do better. We have a duty and obligation to make sure that we're investing power in people that we know will also honor their duty and obligation." In the second meeting, the “Politics & Prose” seminar (6th January, 2024 https://lnkd.in/gU9j_6gu ) she warned that an #oathofoffice to uphold the #Constitution may not be enough to overcome the denegration of #democracy : "The Republican Party of today have moved away from one of the most conservative of conservative values which is fidelity to the Constitution” (Cheney, 6th January 2024, Politics and Prose @ 17:53mins) “Sometimes you get politicians who…. operate on autopilot... so there’s this automatic I’m going to support the nominee of my party …<but> we have to do what’s right for the country”. And Host, Mark Leibovich (6th January 2024, Politics and Prose @ 46:22mins ff), pointed out “one of the things I’m always struck by in writing about politicians is how terrified they are to loose and in service to that they will do all kinds of things to avoid loosing”. I suggest these arguments support the need for an #Oath of #RsponsibleLeadership with #accountability to transparent agreed goals for leaders and followers.
