Headed to InfoComm Show for the first time next week in #LasVegas? Here are 5 tips to make your first trip a meaningful one: 1. Stay Hydrated in the Desert Air Las Vegas's arid climate is notorious for catching first time visitors off guard. Especially in the cooler months. Prioritize hydration to fend off dehydration and exhaustion and keep your energy levels up. If you are there in the summer months, this applies double. I recommend grabbing a case of water from a CVS or Walgreens before checking into the hotel room. If you bring a reusable water bottle, make sure that it can clip on to something or be secured in a bag. You don't want to get stuck having to hold it all day. 2. Choose Comfortable Footwear Given the sheer size of Las Vegas's conference venues, comfortable shoes are a must to prevent fatigue, blisters, and discomfort. Opt for footwear that offers support for long days on your feet. Function and fashion can coexist! 3. Smart Transportation Planning Las Vegas is sprawling with numerous conference centers that are much further apart than they seem. Stay near your convention center if possible or explore transport options like the Las Vegas Monorail, which can be a lifesaver when taxi and Uber lines stretch endlessly. Note that you can't just hail a cab or catch a ride anywhere on the street like you can in other major cities. Hotels and convention halls often have dedicated pick up/drop off areas. Be sure you know where those are ahead of time. 4. Schedule Time for Nightly Events Most of the time either the trade show or exhibitors will sponsor nightly events that give you a chance to see a different side of Las Vegas. Balance your schedule by attending an after hours party, hockey game, or a show, embracing the entertainment Las Vegas is famous for. This not only provides a much-needed change of pace but also offers unique networking opportunities in a more relaxed setting. These informal interactions have proven to be some of the most impactful conversations of my career. 5. Practice Moderation and Professionalism Las Vegas is synonymous with indulgence, offering temptations that can easily lead to overconsumption and potentially unprofessional behavior. Be mindful of your alcohol intake and social interactions, remembering that you represent not only yourself but also your company or brand. The key is to enjoy the vibrant nightlife and entertainment responsibly, ensuring that your conduct remains professional at all times. This approach will help you maintain the safety and respect of your peers and potential business contacts, making your trade show experience both enjoyable and beneficial for your professional reputation. -- Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority - LVCVA, #infocomm24
