Celebrating a Century of Life: A Legacy of Connection Reaching 100 years is an incredible milestone in itself. But reaching 100 years surrounded by those whose lives you've touched? That's the true measure of a life well-lived. #LifeGoals Western society often sends the message that aging diminishes our value, pushing our eldest members to the margins. In doing so, we overlook the vast history, wisdom, and perspective our elders carry. By setting aside the eldest among us, we lose a vision of the life we all hope to create. This is a powerful reminder of why #RepresentationMatters—because, as the saying goes, "You can’t be what you can’t see." Imagine if we each had frequent interactions with centenarians. Perhaps the daily pressures of modern life would feel a bit lighter, and we’d focus more on the life we want MOST rather than the life we want NOW. Ask yourself: “Will this matter when I’m 100?” As a new mom, this question feels especially poignant. It keeps the main thing ... the MAIN THING. It challenges me to build a life that endures through the decades—a life that values deep, genuine connections. How do we teach skills we don’t have? The short answer is we don’t. None of these skills are even part of the curriculum. Teaching is force-feeding information that doesn’t matter to students who aren’t listening. Who can blame them? There is no future for this. Facilitated learning (think Finland) incorporates all these skills seamlessly. It is the opposite of teaching. Teaching doesn’t work. As long as it takes for that to sink in is as long as it’s going to be before it’s eradicated.

This year, 3/31 is both Easter Sunday and the end of Q1 A day in corporate life filled with deadlines and stress and a holiday celebrating sacrifice and love for others For those who celebrate, 3/31 Easter means: - joy & celebration - sacrifice for others & selflessness 3/31 End of Q1 could mean: - the last day to hit quarterly goals - a day of high stress Whether or not you celebrate Easter, I thought this was an interesting concept to reflect on. A positive mindset is everything. As we close out the quarter, I am focused on: 1) working hard to close out with strong results for my customers and colleagues 2) choosing patience over impatience, choosing to help others even if I “don’t have the time”, and choosing kindness 3) celebrating our wins!! In two years' time, what skills might your future self wish you had invested in today to boost your adaptability? I'm troubled by how the chart below - which captures hirers' perspective - mashes up traits, drivers and competencies under the generic umbrella of 'skills'. But aside from this sloppiness, I'm even more troubled by the fact that: ↳ Change agility - which is much more than 'creative thinking' and encompasses curiosity, continuous learning, the courage to experiment and take risks, resilience and emotional regulation under pressure - is sorely missing ↳ Critical thinking is also a notable pass ↳ Social skills and empathy in the age of AI, anyone? ↳ Independent working ranks so high, when today's world in flux critically calls for joined-up thinking & cross-boundary collaboration ↳ And finally, given that this is hirers' perspective, I can only be amused by the fact that "passion" and "dedication" are listed there as if candidates are meant to just put those in the bag and bring them on their first day at work - and not at all a matter of employers creating the conditions for "passion" and "dedication" to be ignited and channeled in the right way 😬 Curious what else you're noticing in this chart; and how you see your own "skills of the future" evolving...
