I might have taken on some exciting new scope as UK Country Manager but my passion for delivering a clean energy transition that also delivers for nature remains undiminished. That's why I travelled to Cali last week with my great colleague Rennie Meyers to engage with industry colleagues, NGOs, governments, regulators and the all-important finance community, discussing the concrete actions we're taking (and I very much hope others will too) to deliver integrated action on the climate and biodiversity crises. The COP16 outcomes were something of a mixed bag, but great to see the momentum building behind this integrated action. Thank you to Kristian Teleki, Elizabeth Grey, Craig Bennett, Tony Juniper CBE, Martin Harper, Charles Ogilvie OBE, Vidar Helgesen and the many others who gave of their time to meet with us. Big thanks to the whole Ørsted team who pulled everything together for the conference (Samir Whitaker, Emma Ahart, Emma Hospes, Tommy Kristoffersen, Greg DeCelles, Cat Valentin Hemmingsen, Anthony Dvarskas Lauren Uppink Calderwood) and to our CEO Mads Nipper for his continued and undiminished championing of Ørsted's sustainability programme. #biodiversity #cop16 #offshorewind
That's a wrap for #COP16. Now let's get to work! Two great weeks in Cali, Colombia, at UN’s biodiversity conference with nature at centre stage have come to an end, and we're grateful for the chance to make our voices heard on the need for both renewable energy solutions and thriving ecosystems to address the climate and biodiversity crises. Since COP15, we’ve been working hard to turn our biodiversity ambition into action, so we're thrilled to learn that our #NatureStrategy was published in Business for Nature's approved list of #NowForNature strategies. Hear more about our time at COP16 from Benj Sykes, our UK Country Manager and Head of Environment & Permitting, Europe, and read more about our nature strategy here: https://lnkd.in/dnVymxmH. Vamanos!
Great to see Benj, it is good that now is the time to turn plans into action. Will keep watching for updates.
Excellent, Benj! Colombia is a superb country for the energy meets water nexus, among others! Universidad de Los Andes is a firm favourite of mine; Juan Saldarriaga, PhD, in particular!
As messaged, would still be keen to see you at #Anthropy talking about this.
