"𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: '𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐧 $𝟑,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞! 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲!' 𝐨𝐫 '𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐓𝐙𝐒 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬!' 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞?" Necta Richard M. recently shared some powerful insights on how we should be marketing tech and STEM careers, especially to young women. We’ve seen how sports betting and other industries attract youth by highlighting big rewards rather than the hard work it takes to get there. This isn’t just marketing—it’s a promise of a livelihood, and it works. Read her article here: https://lnkd.in/ecTTUcJx At UNIAID AFRICA, we believe it’s time to approach STEM education with a similar mindset. The reality is that being a skilled developer or a tech professional does pay well, and with the right skills, young women and men in Tanzania can build rewarding, impactful careers. But the message has to resonate with their needs: financial stability, personal growth, and future security. That’s why, for our upcoming Tanzania Annual 24-Hour Female Hackathon, we’re going beyond the traditional “#coding is #cool” messaging. We’re creating a space where: - Every participant will be awarded just for showing up and giving it their all. - Their ideas won’t end with the hackathon – we’ll support them in turning their concepts into real, successful ventures. - The skills and connections they gain can lead to well-paying jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities. Imagine 100 young #women solving #globalchallenges in 24 hours, knowing that their hard work could lead to something far greater than just a project. This isn’t just about innovation—it’s about transforming futures, providing skills that pay, and building ventures that will outlast the hackathon. We’re inviting everyone #youth, #sponsors, #educators, and #advocates to join us on this journey. Let’s change the conversation. Let’s move from “She can code too” to “Here’s how coding can secure your future!” Are you ready to see what a motivated community of young innovators can achieve? Join us at UNIAID AFRICA Cc: Winharder Sylvester Kaiza Kunonu Kate Volbert Winstone K. Nnko Tonnie Mangu Forbah Sandra . N Josephat Raphael Joshua Jackai Forbah Sandra . Empowering Africa's Future: The Role of Tech Education in Transforming Young Minds In today’s rapidly evolving tech world, Africa finds itself at a critical juncture. The future success of our continent depends on our ability to equip young people with the right skills, mindsets, and opportunities to participate in the global tech ecosystem. This is where initiatives like TECH DAD come into play, shaping not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the innovators, creators, and problem-solvers the world will come to rely on. TECH DAD, a pioneering tech camp for boys aged 6 to 15, aims to bridge the gap between exposure and mastery. With programs tailored for beginners, intermediates, and advanced learners, we're fostering a peer-driven learning environment that resonates deeply with the youth. As my own sons, Dante and Jason, teach and learn alongside their peers, I’m reminded daily of the untapped potential within our young minds. Our focus is clear—leveraging technology to build confidence, instill curiosity, and ignite a passion for innovation. We are not only training boys to understand and use technology but also helping them become contributors to the digital economy. From creating simple games to mastering animation, our camp equips young boys with the tools they need to succeed in a tech-driven world. But why is this important? Because Africa's future is digital, and it is imperative that we prepare our youth to not only consume technology but to create it. The TECH DAD initiative is about giving them the skills, networks, and vision to dream beyond borders, achieve their goals, and discover new paths in life. Our focus on upskilling Africa’s youth ties directly into my broader mission at Get Global by TeleSoftas—to connect African talent with global opportunities, driving sustainable economic growth. Through these initiatives, we are playing our part in ensuring that Africa is not left behind in the global tech race. We are preparing a generation that will thrive in the face of technological advancement, and the ripple effect will be felt across industries, communities, and the world at large. Now is the time to invest in Africa’s youth. Let’s embrace the power of technology to transform, uplift, and secure a brighter future for the next generation. #EmpowerAfrica #TechEducation #TechForGood #FutureReady #GetGlobal #YouthInTech #TECHDAD #SPEL #Africa

🌟 Hello LinkedIn fam! 🌟 Today, I want to rave about three incredible things about Nigerian Women Techsters, an initiative of Tech4Dev empowering women in tech across Africa. Expert Guidance: Let's be honest, sometimes self-paced learning can fall by the wayside. I've dabbled in frontend bootcamps before, but staying disciplined with mountains of reading material was a struggle. Then I found Tech4Dev, and it was a game-changer! Their instructor-led program is pure magic. It keeps you focused, fosters dedication, and injects a healthy dose of accountability. It is a program that doesn’t just hand you a roadmap; it crafts your destiny The facilitators? Absolute Rockstar! They're industry experts who share their knowledge in such a way that it truly resonates. I consider myself lucky to have learned from such incredible instructors. 2. Comprehensive Training: The fellowship exceeded my expectations, offering a well-structured program that covered both technical and soft skills. I gained hands-on experience in frontend development, learning by doing, and received valuable feedback from my instructors. The program's comprehensive approach helped me develop a holistic understanding of the tech industry, preparing me for real-world challenges. The knowledge they impart is truly unique and empowers you to excel in the real world. It's a testament to the fact that experience is the best teacher, and Tech4Dev delivers that in spades. I learned how to work on projects, collaborate with team members, and communicate effectively with clients. 3. Supportive Community: The supportive spirit at Tech4Dev is truly inspiring and remarkable. Their mission to empower and upskill women across Africa is not just commendable, it's essential. From pixels to purpose, my journey this year has been nothing short of transformative. Let me tell you something now, if you had told me at the start of 2024 that I would be doing what I'm doing at Grand Africa Initiative -GAIN, I might have laughed… at you, at me, at anyone else in the room😭. Yet, reflecting on my time here fills me with a deep sense of gratitude for the platform availed me. At work, my colleagues affectionately refer to me as 'Madam Communications'🗣️, a title I wear proudly as a Communications and Research Associate because, every day at GAIN has offered new avenues to empower African youth through innovative strategies. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been using communication and creativity to amplify our mission🌱. Whether designing engaging social media posts, crafting impactful research reports, or creating eye-catching banners and flyers on Canva (don’t worry, I’ll get back to this)—every piece of content aims to inspire, inform, and empower. See, even if you do not pat me on the back, I’ll gladly twist my arm to pat my own back myself😏. Speaking of Canva, what began as "casual use" has quickly turned into an actual skill. Though seemingly small, achieving this milestone has reinforced my belief in celebrating every step towards larger goals. ALXE has been pivotal in my development, providing eye opening lessons, invaluable support and guidance. They’re the real ‘President, general among the nations’🤲💪. At least now, when asked about my short or long-term goals, I can confidently articulate how I've been able to leverage storytelling, using it as tool to drive change and foster development😌. There’s an even wider audience to reach and currently, I have the means to do that. Looking ahead, I'm eager to continue championing this mission, fueled by our team's dedication and Africa's boundless youth potential. Alright, lastly, being part of a team committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of young Africans, has been immensely fulfilling. Going forward, I embrace the future possibilities and challenges with renewed excitement. My journey of growth and learning in communication and research is dedicated to driving positive change in our communities👥🤝. #AiCE4learning #AlX #AlXcohort4 #GrandAfricaInitiative #GAIN #AiCE

CREATING BETTER LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR ALL WITH TELKOM LEARN We are proud to partner with Telkom in the Telkom Learn Hackathons are set in 5 provinces in South Africa (Limpopo, Northern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and the Eastern Cape) to challenge developers/innovators to create better learning experiences. Here is why this Hackathon series is an exciting one: 1) Telkom has put out 6 problem statements which are well placed towards creating solutions and/or tools to help enable citizens especially in marginalised communities, access and find ease in the digital learning journey. 2) In order to be accepted to participate, registrants need to take up at least one course on Telkom Learn. 3) The Hackathon was over-subscribed within 24 hours of launch for the first 2 provinces - depicting even greater tech vibrancy outside Gauteng province. 4) Winning teams of the Telkom Learn Hackathons in each of the provinces will be brought up to attend the Geekulcha Annual Hackathon set for early October 2024. 5) It's great to see gender balance in some of the provinces through the registration process and equally so, the skills parity. Registration is still fully open and participants in the focus provinces may register: https://lnkd.in/dQR7PTuD #TelkomLearnHack
