I know searching for jobs can be exhausting. We’ve all been there. BUT… good things come to those who work for it 😉✨ Here are three fundamental things you must do before submitting your application. Many experts have shared this advice, but I want to reinforce it because I'm currently looking for a great candidate for an opening role : https://lnkd.in/gR5cn_aS. 1. Understand the company/organization you’re applying to. What do they do? Where are they based? Do they have affiliates or a portfolio? Check the job poster or hiring manager’s profile to get a better understanding. If you can’t find this information from their socials, website, or other sources, (and if I’m being generous)—ask! 2. Understand the role and ask good questions. While hiring managers/job posters sometimes can’t share every detail, you can infer a lot by understanding the company (point 1). If inquiries are encouraged, craft thoughtful questions like: “What qualities/skills are you looking for in candidates?” “Can you share what success looks like in this role?” Avoid vague questions like “May I apply?”—it puts us in an awkward position. We’ll just respond with “Why not?” or, worse, “Did the job post say otherwise?” 3. Tailor your CV and application to the role. Generic applications rarely stand out. Take the time to align your CV, cover letter, or portfolio with the job requirements and company values. Highlight relevant skills, experiences, and achievements that resonate with the role. It shows you’re genuinely interested in this opportunity—not just any opportunity. We also craft the job post with much thoughts and to attract 'what we want to see' in the candidate. If your job title is not relevant, do you have relevant experience that's related to the role? Do you have any relevant skills that might be suitable for the opening? --- Your application is your first impression—make it count.
