We know the classic stressful feelings of anxiety, but symptoms can also appear like zoning out or fading away as well. If you feel like your body and mind are separate, find yourself daydreaming often, and things around you don’t feel quite “real,” you may be experiencing the “zoning out” effects of anxiety. It can also feel like being on autopilot or you forget details of your day, and they just happened! This can often make you feel more anxious as this experience can feel very foreign. Learning to ground yourself in these moments is a great way to tap back into your senses. Try and focus on something you can see clearly or touch near you to bring you back to the present. Small actions like grounding can help make these moments a bit less stressful.
