New Zealand's mobile operators plan to shut down 3G networks by 2025 and transition to 4G and 5G for better connectivity. Upgrading to 4G offers significantly better speeds and reliability. For example, 4G users experience nearly five times faster download speeds than 3G users. As 3G phases out, expect improved mobile experiences and streamlined operations. #3G #4G #Connectivity https://lnkd.in/eG7kH4d6

5G now accounts for 19.6% of all connections in the UK, delivering faster download/upload times and superior performance. However, the urban-rural divide remains, with 5G connections almost twice as common in cities. As 3G networks are phased out, continued investment in 5G is critical to bringing these benefits to rural areas. As operators phase out 3G networks, it's important to ensure continued connectivity, especially for rural communities. Syniverse Evolved Mobility® provides a solution by enabling operators to maintain a seamless roaming experience for both inbound and outbound roamers, even in areas without full 5G coverage. Our cloud-based platform enables 4G and 5G devices to roam on networks that haven't deployed VoLTE, ensuring uninterrupted service during the transition. Ready to improve your network's roaming capabilities? At the Mobile Future Forward 2024 event, T-Mobile’s President of Technology, Ulf Ewaldsson, highlighted the company’s success in riding the 5G wave, which transformed their network performance. With 90% of its towers now operating on 5G, T-Mobile leads in network availability and speed, according to reports like OpenSignal. While T-Mobile’s 5G journey has been largely positive, global experiences with 5G vary significantly. Regions such as China and India have seen rapid consumer adoption and revenue growth, while Europe has lagged behind due to slow rollouts and spectrum issues. In the U.S., fixed wireless access (FWA) has been a strong point for 5G, but enterprise services have yet to realize their full potential. The overall success of 5G depends on regional approaches and how operators measure its impact, whether through revenue or new service innovations.
T-Mobile’s early and full adoption of 5G has been a major success, as noted by its President of Technology, Ulf Ewaldsson, during the Mobile Future Forward 2024 event. The company now has 90% of its towers running 5G, significantly boosting network performance. However, the success of 5G globally has been mixed, with regions like China and India seeing rapid growth, while Europe has struggled with slow rollouts. The overall impact of 5G depends on various factors, such as revenue generation and adoption of new use cases like fixed wireless access (FWA).

What’s Holding 5G Standalone Back? 🤔 5G was supposed to change everything, right? Yet, here we are in 2024, and only 49 out of 310 5G networks have fully embraced Standalone (SA). So, what's the holdup? It turns out, the shiny promise of 5G SA is running into some pretty real-world roadblocks. The business cases beyond just faster mobile broadband aren't convincing enough yet, devices that can handle SA are still scarce, and let's not forget those stubborn legacy systems holding everything back. But here's the thing—this isn't just a story of delays. It’s a story of potential. We’re on the verge of something big. With open APIs and a more robust 5G device ecosystem on the horizon, the industry could be ready for a serious pickup by the end of the year. Curious about what’s next? Our latest report breaks down where 5G SA is heading and what it means for the future of telecom. Spoiler alert: it's not all doom and gloom—there's light at the end of the tunnel!
