💼 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝗻: 𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟴 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀! 💼 When I joined Sanford Federal, Inc. as an Operations Associate, I knew I had to prove myself quickly. Just 18 days into the job, I was handed a critical task: secure a quote for a major contract valued at over half a million dollars. The team was on the verge of working with a sub-contractor who offered a quote that would have resulted in only a 5% profit margin. They gave me this challenge to see what I was capable of. Determined to make an impact, I dove into the details and reached out to a different sub-contractor. After a thorough meeting to ensure we were on the same page, we crafted a plan that not only met the project's requirements but also significantly boosted our profit margin. The result? A remarkable 31% profit margin—a far cry from the original 5%. But what made this achievement even more memorable was the surprising coincidence—the quote number matched my badge number, 458. It felt like everything was falling into place for a reason! This experience, just 18 days into my role, taught me the importance of taking initiative, fostering clear communication, and thinking strategically. These skills continue to drive our team’s success in federal projects, construction, professional services, and beyond.

Absolutely, recognition in the workplace or any group setting is indeed about more than just tangible rewards. It’s about feeling valued and knowing that your contributions are making a difference. When people feel recognized, they’re often more motivated, engaged, and committed to continuing their good work. It fosters a positive environment where everyone can thrive and feel like an integral part of the team’s achievements. It’s a powerful aspect of human interaction that helps build trust and camaraderie. If you’re leading a team or part of one, fostering a culture of appreciation can be incredibly beneficial.

🌟The Power of Recognition - Boosting Morale & Motivation🌟 Recognition in the beauty industry isn't just about winning awards; it's about acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and passion that you and your team pour into your salon every day. It’s a reminder that the hard work is paying off and that others see and appreciate your dedication. This acknowledgement can be incredibly motivating, pushing you to continue striving for excellence. It can also foster a positive work environment, as the appreciation shown can boost morale and strengthen the team's spirit, making everyone feel more connected and driven to succeed.🩷

Don’t Neglect These 5 Things If You Want to Be Recognized at Work(Monday Article 50) A few years ago, I was invited to be the Master of ceremonies at a company’s award dinner, where staff were recognized and rewarded for their hard work and dedication. One particular lady stood out; it seemed she was the company's favorite, as I repeatedly called her to the podium to receive multiple gifts. At one point, the CEO sent a note to me that he would add a thousand-dollar bonus to her existing award. This was really huge because she was earning in Naira. I later discovered that she had been voted for these honors by her colleagues. Getting recognized at work is not easy; it requires an intentional effort that ultimately yields results. While some may argue that they only care about their job, the truth is that if you value your work, you’ll want acknowledgment for your contributions. Here are a few qualities you should cultivate: 1. Be an Early Arriver: Arriving early boosts productivity. It allows you to plan your day effectively, reducing stress and helping you stay organized. Make this a priority. 2. Dress Professionally: Always present yourself as ready to tackle the day. Remember, how you dress influences how you are perceived. Maintain good hygiene and aim to look polished. 3. Show Integrity and Honesty: Integrity and honesty are qualities every employer values. Choose honesty over greed, and let integrity guide your actions. Don’t let selfishness lead to your downfall. If you think you are enjoying it now, trust me, the consequences will be bigger. 4. Be a Team Player: Remember, no one is an island at work. Every employee and department is interconnected. Be eager to collaborate on projects and listen to others' opinions with an open mind. 5. Become a Problem Solver: Avoid being the person who only highlights problems. You were hired to provide solutions. Managers appreciate employees who bring positivity and constructive ideas rather than constant negativity. Don't be known for fishing problems, be better known for providing solutions. I hope you found value in today’s article with PriscaTee and will also apply these qualities. Have a productive week! With love, #PriscaTee

There’s so many ways to be a good place to work or a good person to work for. But if we aren’t practicing this one thing, it’s impossible to be great. It’s imperative that we understand and practice the difference between Recognition and Appreciation. Recognition is focused on a persons achievements. Appreciation is a practice of expression for a persons value. In what ways do you receive appreciation at work? We’d love to hear from you.

Awesome post Oisin. To be honest if I am the owners of The Doyle Collection group and read this I would be so proud of my people and your workplace. True #Hospitality only shows up when our people are given permission to “win, fail, grow and learn together”. For this a safe work place environment is essential. #psycholgicalsafety #inclusionsafety #learnersafety #contributorsafety #challengersafety
Reflecting on 6 years The Westbury and the The Doyle Collection What a journey from walking in the door in a white waistcoat as a young bartender, facing a new opportunity. I am grateful for all the people I have met and continue to meet. The paths I have crossed, paved and redirected. In the past few years as I have become a young manager and faced many challenges and obstacles, I have realised more than ever, our industry is built on it's people, and more importantly teams. We win, fail, grow and learn together. Every challenge is a new opportunity for those experiences and another curve thrown. I understand these are time old tropes and ideas but when I look at my own journey and what I've learnt, I can never put my finger on how I have gotten here, but here I am. All I know and all I will preach, is work hard, stay open to opportunities and challenge yourself, you'll never be disappointed. Who I was yesterday, and who I am today will never be more prepared than who I will be tomorrow.

Today is pretty milestonic for me (and yes, I know that isn’t a word, but it should be!). Today is my 20th year at Box UK! 20 years!! I’m sure a lot of people maybe think that being in the same place for such a long time shows a lack of ambition, but that is so different from my experience at Box UK. I work in an organisation that values me as an individual (and always has, even when I haven’t valued myself so much). I work in an organisation that has helped me grow, and given me opportunities to learn new skills along the way (and to this day I’m still learning). I work in an organisation where I’m surrounded by super smart people (honestly, way smarter than me!). I get to work with awesome clients… ones where their goals become my goals (and yes, these goals keep me awake A LOT!!). At Box UK I can be curious and challenge, and influence change both internally and with clients I work with. That’s pretty awesome! Most people at Box UK won’t know this, but every Monday without fail I start my week with this quote (and if you know, you’ll know)… “put some skates on, and be your own hero”
