What a great post Bartłomiej Wojdyło! I commonly comment to companies about the hidden hazard of scrap bale stacking height. I acknowledge that ISRI (The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries ) recommends bale stacks to be no higher than 5. But, that in my opinion is too high. There have been numerous incidents (almost all fatal) of scrap bales falling over upon a nearby worker(s). Commonly, workplaces lack space are forced to stack their bales higher than three (3) tall. This photo shows what a workplace should do. Please observe that farthest stack is the highest, then the stack in front is one lower. That process is continued till the stack is three high. This pyramid method of stacking is commonly cited as a corrective action after a fatal incident for stacks that fall over. I will save this post and photo and use it in my presentation when I talk to workplaces. Thank you Bartłomiej Wojdyło. Please tell this workplace of my comments.
