Today, on International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on three charities we’ve supported that are making a real difference to the lives of women. Between Leeds Building Society and the Society's charitable foundation, a total of £136,700 has been donated to these inspirational causes that help empower women. Here’s a bit more about them… It’s important to have a safe place to live, which is why we’re supporting Treasures Foundation with funding. The grant is being used towards buying a property in Hull, which will be used as a home for women who require specialist support. Treasures Foundation also provides outreach support, and a day programme for women in recovery from addiction, the criminal justice system, trauma and mental health. Latch (Leeds Action to Create Homes) Ltd converts derelict properties into supported housing. We’re providing funding to help 25 single mothers and their children move into new tenancies, including providing furniture such as beds, cots and fridges, as well as fully carpeting each property to make their house a home. The Snowdrop Project are making a huge impact in Sheffield by helping survivors of modern slavery and exploitation rebuild their futures. From counselling to house renovations, their holistic support is empowering people to get their lives back on track. And 90% of those they’re helping are women. These initiatives inspire us to keep creating safe spaces and opportunities for all women! 💪🏠💖 #InspireInclusion #IWD2024

Who are the forgotten women? Why care about somebody I don't know? It doesn't impact me, so I don't need to bother myself with it..... Let's break the stigma and their silence, stand up, and educate ourselves and those around us. Support those without a voice and those who are too scared, embarrassed, or worried about judgment! 'The Forgotten Women', over 40,000 Queensland women over the age of 55 are homeless. Sadly this figure is due to increase twofold by 2036! With over 700 based in greater Brisbane. That is 700 women who are someone’s aunt, mother, or grandmother, struggling to keep their heads above water, often doing so in silence. I am calling all my LinkedIn friends, family and colleagues, Stand with me and support my team, we are taking on the Live Like Her Challenge 2024 to help more homeless women over 55 into homes. For one night, we will sleep in a car to raise awareness and funds for The Forgotten Women project, an initiative that is close to our hearts. This initiative hits close to home for me. I have seen close friends struggle to find suitable accommodation for their families, especially elderly mothers and grandmothers who have even had to couch surf with only the clothes on their backs and without the medication some need due to having to decide which bill to pay, the house, power or food?? We can never judge one's circumstances, but we can certainly change our thought process and help rather than hinder. For some, homelessness is due to financial strain, domestic violence and, in some situations, families who don't want anything to do with them. In a situation most of us could never imagine, these women often hold their heads high and suffer in silence, but they deserve a warm, safe home. Let's help raise awareness for such a worthy cause. To support us, click “Donate Now” to make a secure online donation as “Everyone deserves to live with dignity and age securely in place”. https://lnkd.in/gNZuyqEJ All donations over $2 are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an automatic receipt via email. Thank you for your generosity and support. In the great words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” 👨👩👧👧 👭 👬 💛 #LLHC2024 #livelikeherchallenge #empowerchange #educateyourself #joinmetomakeachage #homelessness #livelikeherchallange2024 #theforgettenwomen #communityservice #inittogether #fundraise #brisbane #qld #womenmatter #family #beboldbebrave #communityimpact #initiative #breakthesilence #downerutilities

As we strive to make a positive impact in the lives of those less fortunate, it's important to remember the significance of humility and genuine connection. When reaching out to help individuals facing economic challenges, consider leaving your camera at home. While documenting acts of charity can inspire others and raise awareness, it's equally essential to prioritize the dignity and privacy of those we aim to support. Sometimes, the most meaningful interactions occur when we focus solely on the needs of others, without the distraction of capturing the moment. Let's continue to extend a helping hand with sincerity and compassion, respecting the inherent worth and dignity of every individual we encounter. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need, one genuine connection at a time. #Charity #Humility #Compassion #MakingADifference #SocialResponsibility #HumanitarianAid #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #Empathy #Kindness #GiveBack #Philanthropy #Dignity #SocialGood #HelpingHand #CommunityEngagement #Inclusion #Solidarity #SupportingOthers #ActOfKindness

Jewish New Yorkers are leading the way in #CharitableGiving to Jewish causes, according to a recent study by UJA-Federation of New York. Among households that made donations, nearly 70% contributed to Jewish organizations and initiatives, at least in part. This level of support for #JewishPhilanthropy surpasses the national trend. The 2020 Pew Study found that only 48% of Jewish adults across the United States donated to a Jewish cause within the past year. These findings highlight the commitment of New York's Jewish community to strengthening #JewishLife. Learn how a #JCF #DonorAdvisedFund can help support your #philanthropic endeavors.

Globally, one in three victims of human trafficking are children, and the majority of them are girls. Children are also twice as likely as adults to face violence during trafficking. Children are subjected to various forms of trafficking, including forced labour, crime, begging, illegal adoption, sexual abuse and the online dissemination of abusive images, and some are also recruited into armed groups. This United Nations' World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (30 July), we're joining the campaign to raise awareness of the causes and vulnerabilities associated with child trafficking. There is a critical need for dedicated support for child victims of trafficking, and together we are urging the public and policymakers to address the current shortcomings and accelerate action to #EndHumanTrafficking.
