Last week, I had the opportunity to visit our dedicated staff currently deployed in North Carolina. Many of these individuals have been on deployment since early September, initially supporting Hurricane Francine response efforts in Louisiana. This year, the Deployment Field Operations Section has achieved remarkable milestones, including spending a collective 1,834 days deployed, with 574 of those days supporting Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton operations. Additionally, the team facilitated the mobilization of more than 16,000 responders to the field throughout the year. Even now, 50% of our team remains actively deployed in ongoing recovery efforts in North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee & Georgia, exemplifying their unwavering dedication to FEMA’s mission. THANK YOU all for your tireless commitment and extraordinary efforts in serving communities during their time of need. Your hard work is truly appreciated and does not go unnoticed. #keeppushing

#Climate #adaptation will become an increasing share of our #climate action budgets because we waited too long. Unless we #decarbonize faster, #disaster #damages and #costs will skyrocket, similar to waiting too long for dental and medical treatment. We are dealing with the power of #nature in our bodies and environment, which are deeply interconnected.

As Hurricane Milton strengthens and heads toward Florida’s West Coast as a Category 4 hurricane, we’re not only inspired by the incredible resilience of local communities but also by the massive preparedness efforts already in place. Neighbors are coming together, and trained disaster volunteers, response vehicles, and prepositioned supplies stand ready to deploy at a moment’s notice. This combined effort of neighbors supporting neighbors and emergency teams prepared to spring into action shows the power of unity in times of crisis.
